Jackson JS2 Kelly Bird IV 4-String Bass Guitar

The Jackson JS Series Kelly Bird Bass IV JS2 is a four-string electric bass guitar with the distinctive offset Kelly Bird body shape. It is designed for players who want a full-scale bass with an assertive visual profile and straightforward onboard controls. The Tobacco Burst finish and black hardware give it a classic, stage-ready appearance.

A 34-inch scale length provides the familiar feel and string tension used on many standard electric basses. The one-piece bolt-on maple neck has graphite reinforcement and a scarf joint for added structural support. Its satin neck finish is intended to provide a smooth playing surface during position changes.

The amaranth fingerboard uses a 12-inch to 16-inch compound radius, becoming flatter farther up the neck. This layout pairs with 21 jumbo frets and pearloid block inlays for clear position reference. A 1.650-inch nut width gives the four strings conventional spacing at the first position.

Dual Jackson high-output humbucking bass pickups are fitted in an H/H configuration. Separate neck and bridge pickup volume controls let players blend the two pickup positions, while a master tone control adjusts overall treble response. This simple passive-style control arrangement keeps tonal adjustments accessible from the instrument.

A Jackson HiMass bridge anchors the strings, while sealed die-cast Jackson tuning machines support routine tuning adjustments. The bass is supplied with nickel-plated steel strings in .045-.105 gauges and uses standard strap buttons. It can serve as a distinctive addition to a bass rig for rehearsal, recording, or amplified performance when paired with suitable bass amplification.

Design & Installation

The JS2 combines a mahogany Kelly Bird body with a one-piece maple bolt-on neck, amaranth fingerboard, pearloid block inlays, and black hardware. Graphite neck reinforcement, a scarf joint, dual-action truss rod, black plastic nut, and sealed die-cast tuners are part of its functional construction. There is no pickguard.

Set up the bass with a compatible bass amplifier, appropriate instrument cable, and a strap connected to its standard strap buttons. The two volume controls can be used to favor or blend the neck and bridge humbuckers, while the master tone control provides a quick overall tonal adjustment. A truss-rod wrench is specified; case availability should be confirmed separately because a case is sold separately.
