The Jackson JS Series Spectra Bass JS3Q is a right-handed, 4-string electric bass built for players who want a flexible instrument for rehearsals, recording, and live performance. Its 34-inch scale length provides the familiar feel and string tension of a full-size electric bass. The Amber Blue Burst finish, quilt maple top, and black nickel hardware give this model a distinctive visual presentation without changing its practical focus.

The offset Spectra Bass body uses poplar construction with a quilt maple top. Its enlarged upper horn is designed to distribute the instrument's weight and help reduce neck dive when playing with a strap. This makes the JS3Q a practical option for players seeking a balanced bass shape for longer playing sessions.

Two Jackson medium-output humbucking pickups provide the bass with an HH pickup layout and a broad foundation for amplified bass tones. A two-way toggle switch splits the pickup coils, adding another tonal option beyond the standard humbucking configuration. The blend control lets the player set the balance between neck and bridge pickups.

The onboard active 3-band EQ supplies bass, midrange, and treble shaping when the active circuit is engaged. A push/pull volume control switches between active and passive operation, so the bass can continue to produce output in passive mode if active electronics are bypassed. This arrangement gives players direct control over both pickup blending and EQ-based tone adjustment.

A bolt-on maple neck with a scarf joint, graphite reinforcement, and a satin finish supports the instrument's fast-playing design. The laurel fingerboard has a 12-16-inch compound radius, 24 jumbo frets, and white dot position inlays. Jackson's HiMass bridge and sealed die-cast tuners complete the hardware package for a straightforward bass rig that can connect to a bass amplifier, DI, pedalboard, or recording interface.

Key Features

  • 4-String, 34-Inch Scale: Delivers standard full-scale electric bass feel and string spacing.
  • HH Pickup Configuration: Dual medium-output humbuckers provide neck and bridge pickup blending.
  • Coil-Split Toggle: Adds a selectable split-coil pickup sound option.
  • Active/Passive Operation: Push/pull volume control bypasses the active EQ circuit.
  • 3-Band Active EQ: Adjust bass, midrange, and treble when active mode is engaged.
  • HiMass Bridge: Provides a stable bridge platform with individual string saddles.

Design & Installation

The JS3Q combines a gloss poplar Spectra Bass body with a quilt maple top, white neck and headstock binding, black pickup covers, and black nickel hardware. Its maple neck has a satin finish, Speed Neck contour, dual-action truss rod, and bolt-on construction with a scarf joint. The 2x2 Jackson headstock uses sealed die-cast tuning machines, while the laurel fingerboard is fitted with 24 jumbo frets.

This is a conventional electric bass rather than a car-audio component, so it does not mount in a vehicle or connect to a head unit. Connect its output to a suitable bass amplifier, DI, pedalboard, or recording interface using a standard instrument cable. Set the volume, pickup blend, coil-split switch, and EQ to suit the connected rig; pull the volume control to bypass the active circuit when passive operation is preferred.
