The Jackson JS Series Concert Bass JS3VQ is a right-handed 5-string electric bass built for players who want extended range, adjustable onboard tone shaping, and a distinctive Cherry Burst presentation. Its 35-inch scale and five-string layout provide a platform for bass parts that need a broad working range. The Concert Bass body shape keeps the instrument focused on modern electric-bass performance.

A poplar body forms the foundation of the JS3VQ, while the quilted maple art-grain top adds visual depth beneath the gloss Cherry Burst finish. The bolt-on maple neck is fully bound and uses graphite reinforcement with a scarf joint. Together, these elements support a stable, purpose-built bass design for regular practice, recording, rehearsal, and stage use.

Two Jackson covered high-output humbucking pickups are fitted in an HH configuration, supplying a strong bass signal with humbucking pickup operation. Individual neck- and bridge-pickup volume controls let players balance the two pickup positions. An active three-band EQ provides separate bass, middle, and treble adjustment directly from the instrument.

The amaranth fingerboard has a 12-inch to 16-inch compound radius, becoming flatter farther up the neck. This design combines a more rounded feel near the nut with a flatter upper-fret playing surface. With 24 jumbo frets, pearloid sharkfin inlays, and a 1.75-inch nut width, the JS3VQ offers a clearly defined five-string playing layout.

Jackson equips this bass with a HiMass bridge, sealed die-cast tuning machines, nickel-plated steel strings, and black hardware. It is a practical choice for players building a bass rig around an amplifier, pedalboard, recording interface, or DI setup. The onboard EQ and dual-pickup layout make it suitable for dialing in the instrument before it reaches the rest of the signal chain.

Key Features

  • Five-String Configuration: Expands the instrument’s playing range for modern bass parts.
  • 35-Inch Scale Length: Provides the longer-scale platform specified for this model.
  • HH Pickup Layout: Uses two covered Jackson high-output humbucking bass pickups.
  • Active Three-Band EQ: Adjust bass, middle, and treble from the instrument.
  • Compound-Radius Fingerboard: Transitions from 12 inches to 16 inches across the neck.
  • Jackson HiMass Bridge: Provides a dedicated high-mass bridge design for the strings.

Design & Installation

The JS3VQ pairs a poplar Concert Bass body with a quilted maple art-grain top, gloss finish, black hardware, and white binding at the neck and headstock. Its maple neck has a satin finish, graphite reinforcement, and a dual-action truss rod with adjustment at the nut. Pearloid sharkfin position inlays, a pointed five-in-line headstock, and dome-style control knobs complete the Jackson styling.

This is an electric bass rather than a car-audio component and is intended to be used as part of a bass performance or recording setup. Connect it to an appropriate bass amplification or DI-based rig, then use the neck volume, bridge volume, and active EQ controls to establish the desired pickup balance and tonal contour. Jackson lists a saddle-height wrench and truss-rod wrench; a protective case or gig bag is sold separately.
