The master-volume control includes a push/pull coil-splitting function for an alternate, brighter single-coil-style voice. A three-position toggle switch selects the bridge pickup, both pickups, or the neck pickup. This layout lets a player move between rhythm and lead settings without adding external switching hardware.

An Adjusto-Matic bridge with a secured laurel base works with the Bigsby B60 vibrato tailpiece for expressive pitch movement. The guitar arrives set up with nickel-plated steel .010-.046 strings in standard E tuning. The G2420T uses a gloss-finished laminated maple body with aged-white binding and black/white/black purfling. Its laurel fingerboard has a 12-inch radius, pearloid Neo-Classic thumbnail inlays, and 22 medium-jumbo frets. Details include a real bone nut, sealed die-cast tuners, nickel pickup covers, Gretsch Radio knobs, and a three-ply tortoise pickguard with a gold Gretsch logo.

As a passive electric guitar, the G2420T connects to a guitar amplifier, pedalboard, or audio interface instrument input with a standard 1/4-inch instrument cable. Use the individual pickup volumes, master tone, master volume, and three-way selector to set levels before adjusting the push/pull coil split. A case or gig bag is sold separately, so protection for transport should be selected separately.
