The Gretsch G5420T is a right-handed, single-cutaway hollow-body electric guitar in Orange Stain. It provides the amplified sound and expressive feel of a full hollow-body instrument for players who want an electric guitar with acoustic-style resonance. Its six-string layout, 24.6-inch scale length, and Classic "C" maple neck suit guitarists moving between rhythm, lead, and chord-based playing.

A laminated maple body with arched top and back gives the G5420T its hollow-body platform, while trestle block bracing adds structural contact inside the body. This construction is designed to support a more focused response while helping reduce unwanted feedback compared with an unbraced hollow design. The 2.75-inch-deep body, bound F-holes, and single-cutaway shape retain the traditional Gretsch hollow-body format.

Dual FT-5E Filter'Tron pickups provide neck and bridge pickup voices, selected with a three-position toggle. Individual neck and bridge volume controls work alongside master volume and master tone controls for practical level and tonal adjustment. The master-volume circuit includes treble bleed to help retain high-frequency detail when reducing that control.

The maple set neck has a gloss finish, white binding, and a 12-inch-radius laurel fingerboard. It carries 22 medium-jumbo frets, a Graph Tech NuBone nut, black side dots, and pearloid Neo-Classic thumbnail inlays. Vintage-style open-back tuning machines and an Adjusto-Matic bridge with a secured laurel base complete the working hardware.

A Bigsby B60 vibrato tailpiece adds pitch-modulation capability for chords, melodic lines, and controlled vibrato effects. The G5420T can be used as the core of a guitar-and-amplifier setup, with its pickup selector and four-control layout offering useful adjustment before the signal reaches pedals or an amplifier. A gig bag and hardshell case are optional accessories rather than listed included items.

Key Features

  • Hollow Laminated Maple Body: Delivers a resonant electric-guitar platform with traditional hollow-body construction.
  • Trestle Block Bracing: Adds internal rigidity and is intended to help reduce unwanted feedback.
  • FT-5E Filter'Tron Pickups: Provides dedicated neck and bridge humbucking pickup positions.
  • Treble-Bleed Master Volume: Helps preserve high frequencies as the master volume is lowered.
  • Bigsby B60 Vibrato: Adds smooth pitch variation without changing the guitar's basic control layout.
  • Classic "C" Maple Neck: Combines a set-neck design with a 12-inch-radius laurel fingerboard.

Design & Installation

The G5420T uses a gloss-finished laminated maple hollow body with arched laminated maple top and back, white binding with black/white/black purfling, and bound F-holes. Its Orange Stain finish is paired with a silver plexi pickguard, nickel hardware, G-Arrow control knobs, and a smaller bound late-'50s G6120-style headstock. The bridge is an Adjusto-Matic unit with a secured laurel base, and the tailpiece is a Bigsby B60.

For amplified use, connect the guitar's output to a compatible guitar amplifier or pedal chain with a standard instrument cable. Use the three-position toggle to choose bridge, both, or neck pickups, then balance the two pickup-volume controls with the master volume and tone controls. The listed factory strings are nickel-plated steel in .011-.049 gauges; optional protection choices are the Gretsch G2162 gig bag or G6241FT hardshell case.
