Gretsch G5422G-12 12-String Hollowbody Electric Guitar

The Gretsch G5422G-12 is a right-handed, double-cutaway hollowbody electric guitar built for players seeking the expanded shimmer and octave texture of a dedicated 12-string instrument. Its laminated maple construction and 12-string layout provide a distinctly layered voice for rhythm parts, arpeggios, and melodic lines. The Walnut Stain finish, gold hardware, and classic Gretsch appointments give it a traditional visual character without changing its practical stage-ready focus.

This model is designed for guitarists who want electric 12-string sound without relying on an acoustic-electric setup. Two FT-5E Filter'Tron pickups deliver the amplified signal, with individual pickup volume controls allowing the neck and bridge pickups to be balanced. A three-position toggle selects bridge, combined, or neck pickup operation.

The full hollow body uses trestle block bracing, which increases rigidity between the top and back of the body. This construction is intended to help reduce unwanted feedback while supporting a faster attack, focused response, and sustain. It gives players a practical hollowbody platform for amplified playing at rehearsal, recording, and performance volumes.

A set maple neck with a Classic "C" profile joins a 12-inch-radius laurel fingerboard. The 1.77-inch nut width, 22 medium-jumbo frets, and 24.72-inch scale are configured specifically for the instrument's 12-string format. Pearloid Hump Block inlays, white neck binding, and black side dots complete the neck detailing.

The G5422G-12 can serve as a dedicated texture guitar in a pedalboard-and-amp rig or as a distinctive addition alongside a standard six-string electric. Its master volume includes a treble-bleed circuit, helping preserve high-end clarity as the master volume is reduced. The secured Adjusto-Matic bridge, sealed die-cast tuners, and Gretsch G-Cutout tailpiece provide the core hardware platform for setup and intonation.

The G5422G-12 has a gloss-finished laminated maple hollow body with arched laminated maple top and back, white binding with black/white/black purfling, and oversized bound F-holes. Gold-finished hardware includes a gold Plexi pickguard with black Gretsch and Electromatic logos, gold pickup covers, G-Arrow control knobs, and sealed die-cast tuning machines. Its body depth is 2.25 inches, and the double-cutaway body supports upper-fret access.

As an electric guitar, the G5422G-12 is intended for use with a compatible guitar amplifier and instrument cable. The pickup selector provides bridge-only, combined-pickup, and neck-only settings, while separate pickup volumes, master volume, and master tone allow the signal to be shaped before the amplifier. A case or gig bag is not included; Gretsch lists the G6298 Electromatic hardshell case and G2162 Hollow Body gig bag as optional accessories.
