The Gretsch G2655 Streamliner Center Block Jr. is a compact double-cutaway electric guitar built for players who want semi-hollow character with controlled stage performance. Its laminated maple body and chambered center-block construction provide a practical alternative to fully hollow designs when playing at higher volume. Finished in Midnight Sapphire, this right-handed six-string pairs classic Gretsch styling with modern control options.

This guitar is suited to players seeking a smaller-bodied instrument for rehearsal, recording, and amplified performance. The 24.75-inch scale length, soft “C” nato neck, and 12-inch-radius laurel fingerboard create a familiar platform for chords, lead work, and bends. Its 22 medium-jumbo frets and double-cutaway body give access across the fingerboard.

Two Broad'Tron BT-3S humbucking pickups provide the core voice of the G2655. Gretsch specifies a combination of Alnico 5 and Alnico 2 magnets in these pickups, with a tonal balance centered on strong mids, full lows, and clear highs. A three-position toggle selects bridge, combined, or neck pickup operation.

The G2655 offers flexible onboard tone shaping through individual neck and bridge pickup volume controls, master tone, and master volume. Pulling up the master-volume control activates coil splitting for alternate pickup voicings. This arrangement makes it easy to move between humbucking and split-coil sounds without adding external switching hardware.

An anchored Adjusto-Matic bridge and Gretsch V-Stoptail handle string anchoring and intonation adjustment. The chambered center block is designed to improve attack and sustain while helping reduce feedback at amplified volume. It can serve as a distinct semi-hollow option in a guitar collection or as a compact platform for an amp and pedalboard setup.

Design & Installation

The G2655 uses an arched laminated maple top and back, laminated maple body construction, aged-white binding, and nickel-finished hardware. Its gloss-finished nato set neck carries a laurel fingerboard with pearloid Neo-Classic thumbnail inlays. A real bone nut, die-cast sealed tuners, black three-ply pickguard, and V-Stoptail complete the hardware package.

For setup, use the factory-specified nickel-plated steel .010-.046 string gauge as a reference when replacing strings. The Adjusto-Matic bridge is intended for intonation adjustment, while the individual pickup volumes, master tone, master volume, coil-split control, and three-position toggle provide the primary playing setup. Gretsch lists a compatible optional G2655T Streamliner hardshell case and optional G2164 gig bag; neither is included.
