The Fender QUANTUM HD2 is a 20 x 24 USB-C audio interface built for recording vocals, instruments, digital sources, and monitor mixes from one compact desktop unit. It provides microphone, line, instrument, ADAT, S/PDIF, MIDI, headphone, monitor, and re-amp connectivity for a flexible studio hub. This makes it a practical choice for musicians and creators who need to move beyond the limited input and output options of a computer.
Two MAX-HD microphone preamps provide up to 75 dB of gain for microphones, while two front-panel instrument inputs accommodate passive guitars and basses. The front instrument inputs take priority over the corresponding rear combo inputs when connected, helping keep a guitar-focused setup straightforward. Auto Gain can set levels for microphone and guitar inputs by listening to the source during setup.
The QUANTUM HD2 supports 32-bit conversion and sample rates up to 192 kHz. Its balanced analog connections, low-noise preamp architecture, and dedicated headphone output support detailed tracking and monitoring in home, project, and production studios. DSP monitor mixing helps performers hear their sources without relying on DAW software monitoring.
Digital expansion is a central part of the design. Dual optical ADAT input and output ports support up to 16 channels at 44.1 or 48 kHz, while S/PDIF I/O adds two-channel digital connectivity. Dedicated front-panel re-amp outputs let users send previously recorded tracks to guitar amps or pedals for further processing.
The interface connects to a computer through USB-C and is compatible with recording applications that support Core Audio, WDM, or ASIO. Fender Studio Pro recording software is included as a perpetual license, and Universal Control provides hardware control and monitoring functions. As a studio grows, ADAT-capable external preamps can expand the available input count without replacing the core interface.
Key Features
- 20 x 24 USB-C I/O: Combines analog, ADAT, S/PDIF, and re-amp routing in one interface.
- MAX-HD Mic Preamps: Two recallable preamps offer up to 75 dB of microphone gain.
- Fender Instrument Inputs: Front-panel TS inputs support direct guitar and bass recording.
- Auto Gain: Automatically sets recording gain for microphone and guitar inputs.
- ADAT Digital Expansion: Adds up to 16 digital channels at 44.1 or 48 kHz.
- Re-Amp Outputs: Sends recorded tracks to external amps and effects pedals.
Design & Installation
The QUANTUM HD2 uses a compact black desktop enclosure with front-panel instrument inputs, re-amp outputs, channel controls, a main control knob, level metering, and a headphone connection. Rear-panel connections keep microphones, monitors, line-level equipment, digital I/O, MIDI, USB-C, and power organized behind the interface. Fender does not specify the chassis material in its published specifications.
Connect the included AC adapter and USB-C to USB-C cable before attaching microphones, powered monitors, headphones, instruments, or external digital equipment. Use balanced 1/4-inch TRS cables for monitor and line connections, XLR or TRS cables for the rear combo inputs, and TOSLINK optical cables for ADAT expansion. Register the interface to obtain Fender Studio Pro resources and download Universal Control for remote control, firmware updates, and monitor-mixer management.

Will the QUANTUM HD2 work with Mac and Windows computers?
Yes. It connects through USB-C and supports recording applications that use Core Audio, WDM, or ASIO. Confirm current operating-system requirements before installation.
How many microphones can I record directly?
The interface has two rear-panel microphone/line combo inputs with MAX-HD preamps. More microphone inputs can be added through compatible ADAT-equipped external preamps.
Can I connect a guitar or bass directly?
Yes. Two front-panel 1/4-inch TS instrument inputs are provided for passive instruments such as guitar and bass. Connecting a front instrument disables its corresponding rear combo input.
What cables and accessories are included?
The package includes the QUANTUM HD2 interface, a 1.5 m USB-C to USB-C cable, a DB9 breakout cable for MIDI and S/PDIF, an AC adapter, a quick start guide, and a health, safety, and compliance guide.
Can it be used for re-amping?
Yes. Two dedicated front-panel 1/4-inch TS re-amp outputs can send a previously recorded dry track to an external amplifier or pedal chain. Re-amped audio can then be captured again through the interface inputs.
Is recording software included?
Yes. Fender Studio Pro is included as a perpetual software license. Registration is required to access downloads and licenses through a My Fender account.
