The Shure MVX2U is a compact single-channel digital audio interface that connects an XLR microphone directly to a computer through USB-C. It provides a practical way to use professional dynamic or condenser microphones for streaming, podcasting, voice recording, and remote production without a larger desktop interface. The interface is designed for users who want an uncomplicated XLR-to-USB signal path with headphone monitoring built in.

With up to 60 dB of adjustable microphone gain and switchable 48 V phantom power, the MVX2U accommodates a broad range of XLR microphones. Its 5.8 kOhm input impedance, 7 dBV maximum input level, and -105 dBFS A-weighted digital noise floor support clear capture from both low-output dynamic microphones and phantom-powered condensers. Audio is converted at 16-bit or 24-bit depth at a 48 kHz sampling rate.

A dedicated 3.5 mm headphone output supports direct, zero-latency monitoring while recording or streaming. This lets creators hear their microphone signal without relying only on delayed software monitoring from a computer. The headphone output is rated at 20 mW into 32 ohms for use with compatible headphones or earphones.

The MVX2U works with the ShurePlus MOTIV Desktop App for microphone gain and digital processing control. Auto Level Mode can manage microphone gain automatically, while Manual Mode provides access to settings including EQ, compression, and limiting. This makes it useful for creators who prefer either a simplified setup or more hands-on adjustment.

Its all-metal housing is made for portable and repeatable use in desktop, tabletop, or stand-mounted recording setups. The interface can connect directly to an XLR microphone or operate inline with an XLR cable, helping adapt it to different microphone positions. USB power eliminates the need for a separate external power supply, and the included USB-C to USB-C cable completes the computer connection.

Design & Installation

The MVX2U uses an all-metal enclosure and weighs 100 g, keeping the interface compact while providing a durable connection point between a microphone and computer. Its body measures 85.0 mm long by 28.0 mm wide. A status LED indicates USB connection, mute, connection failure, and firmware-update status, while a separate LED indicates phantom-power operation.

Connect an XLR microphone directly to the interface or use an XLR cable for an inline setup, then connect the included 1 m USB-C to USB-C cable to a compatible Windows or Mac computer. Plug headphones or earphones into the 3.5 mm monitor output for direct monitoring, then set microphone gain as needed in compatible ShurePlus MOTIV software. The MVX2U also fits a standard Shure A25D microphone clip for placement on a standing or tabletop microphone stand.
