The PreSonus Quantum 2626 is a 26x26 Thunderbolt 3 audio interface designed for multichannel recording, playback, monitoring, and studio expansion. It gives musicians, engineers, and producers a single rackmount interface for microphones, instruments, outboard processors, monitors, headphones, MIDI devices, and digital audio gear. Its front-panel input layout makes it especially practical for tracking sessions where several sources need to be connected at once.
Eight Class A XMAX microphone preamps provide the analog front end, with two mic/instrument channels and six mic/line channels. The interface supports 24-bit recording and playback at sample rates up to 192 kHz. Its converter and clocking architecture is intended to preserve detail while maintaining low noise and strong channel separation.
Thunderbolt 3 connectivity supports very low round-trip latency, specified as low as less than 1 ms under suitable system conditions. This is useful for recording through software effects and monitoring performances within a DAW. The Quantum 2626 works with macOS and Windows recording applications that support Core Audio or ASIO drivers.
For system integration, the Quantum 2626 includes balanced main outputs, eight balanced line outputs, two headphone outputs, MIDI, word clock, S/PDIF, and dual ADAT optical I/O. The line outputs are DC-coupled for compatible control-voltage workflows. Two preamp direct outputs and dedicated line returns also allow channels 1 and 2 to be routed through external compressors, EQs, or other line-level hardware.
The 1U all-metal chassis is suited to desktop studio racks, mobile recording rigs, and permanent production installations. Dual ADAT optical ports expand the available I/O count when using compatible external digital preamps or converters. The listed package includes Studio One Pro software, while software registration and entitlement details should be confirmed with the selling retailer and PreSonus account registration process.

Design & Installation
The Quantum 2626 uses a 1U, 19-inch all-metal rackmount chassis with metal knobs and front-panel level controls. Its front panel places the eight analog input channels, gain controls, signal indicators, phantom-power controls, main level control, and dual headphone outputs within easy reach. The rear panel groups analog outputs, digital connections, Thunderbolt ports, and external power input for organized studio wiring.
Connect the interface to a compatible computer using Thunderbolt 3 and install the required PreSonus Universal Control software and driver. Connect microphones, instruments, or line-level sources to the front-panel combo inputs; use balanced TRS cables for monitors and external line-level gear. For expanded channel counts, connect compatible ADAT equipment and set clock source and sample rate correctly in Universal Control.

Does the Quantum 2626 work with a USB-C computer port?
It requires a compatible Thunderbolt connection; the interface uses a USB Type-C shaped Thunderbolt 3 connector. A standard USB-C port alone is not the same as Thunderbolt 3.
How many microphones can I record at once?
The interface has eight XMAX microphone preamps. Channels 1 and 2 are mic/instrument inputs, while channels 3 through 8 are mic/line inputs.
Can I expand the interface with external microphone preamps?
Yes. Dual ADAT optical I/O supports up to 16 additional digital channels at 44.1 or 48 kHz, or up to 8 channels at 88.2 or 96 kHz.
Can I connect external compressors or EQs?
Yes. Channels 1 and 2 provide preamp direct outputs and dedicated line returns for inserting external line-level processing equipment.
What is included with the interface?
The original package documentation lists the Quantum 2626 interface, an external power supply, a Quick Start Guide, and a health, safety, and compliance guide. Software and license availability should be verified with the retailer and through product registration.
Can it be installed in a standard equipment rack?
Yes. The Quantum 2626 is a 1U rackmount unit with a 19-inch width. It is suitable for standard 19-inch rack installations.
