RØDE BROADCASTER Broadcast Condenser Microphone
$405.00
Mogami PLATINUM STUDIO 12 12' XLR Microphone Cable
$134.95
The RØDE BROADCASTER is a large-diaphragm condenser microphone made for broadcast speech, voice-over work, podcasting, and studio narration. Its end-address design helps presenters maintain a natural speaking position while recording directly into the microphone head. It is intended for systems where clear vocal capture and professional XLR connectivity are needed.
A cardioid pickup pattern focuses on the speaker in front of the microphone while reducing pickup from the rear. The voice-tailored response and emphasized proximity effect can add perceived warmth and low-frequency weight when used close to the source. This makes it well suited to close-miked spoken-word applications.
The BROADCASTER uses a 1-inch HF2 capsule with a gold-plated diaphragm and JFET-based active electronics. Its 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency range, 14 dB SPL equivalent noise rating, and 128 dB SPL maximum rating support detailed voice recording with useful headroom. An internal pop filter helps reduce plosive sounds before they reach the capsule.
A switchable 75 Hz high-pass filter helps reduce low-frequency rumble from HVAC systems, traffic, vibration, and other environmental sources. The microphone also has an On-Air indicator LED for studio workflows. With the supplied 5-pin connector installed and wired to a compatible console, the LED can be controlled through switch contacts.
The BROADCASTER connects to a microphone preamp, mixer, audio interface, or broadcast console through XLR and requires phantom power. It can operate from 24V or 48V phantom power, although RØDE's operating guidance specifies a 48V phantom supply for normal use. The included stand mount, zip pouch, and On-Air indicator adaptor support studio installation and storage.
Key Features
- Large 1-Inch Capsule: Supports detailed vocal capture for broadcast and voice-over work.
- Cardioid Pattern: Prioritizes sound from the front of the microphone.
- Internal Pop Filter: Helps reduce plosive noise during close speech recording.
- 75 Hz High-Pass Filter: Reduces low-frequency rumble and vibration when engaged.
- On-Air LED: Provides a visible live-microphone status indicator.
- Phantom-Powered XLR Output: Integrates with compatible professional audio equipment.
Design & Installation
The BROADCASTER has a rugged stainless-steel body and a large-diaphragm, end-address condenser design. Its HF2 capsule uses a gold-plated diaphragm, while the active circuitry uses a JFET impedance converter with a bipolar output buffer. The microphone weighs 577 g and measures 167 mm long, 50 mm high, and 65 mm deep.
Mount the microphone lengthwise in the included RM2 stand mount and speak directly into the head. Connect it with an XLR microphone cable to equipment that supplies phantom power, then allow a brief stabilization period after power is applied. Use the rear high-pass filter switch when low-frequency noise is present; installation of the supplied 5-pin connector for console-controlled On-Air LED operation is best handled by an experienced audio or electronics technician.
