Mogami GOLD STUDIO-25 25' XLR Microphone Cable $119.95
Bundle total: $458.95

The RØDE NT1000 is a side-address, large-diaphragm studio condenser microphone for recording vocals and acoustic or amplified instruments. It gives creators a dedicated XLR microphone option for studio setups that need detailed capture without USB-only limitations. Its fixed cardioid pickup pattern focuses on the source in front of the microphone while reducing pickup from the rear.

This microphone suits home studios, project studios, musicians, voice talent, and engineers recording a range of sources. RØDE specifies it for vocals and instruments, including piano and drum-overhead use. The wide 20Hz to 20kHz frequency range supports full-spectrum recording applications.

The NT1000 combines a 1-inch HF2 capsule with an externally biased true-condenser design. Its low 6dBA equivalent noise level is useful when recording quieter sources or working with more gain. The cardioid pattern and 100-ohm output impedance make it a practical fit for standard microphone preamps.

Inside, the NT1000 uses transformerless circuitry with a unity-gain closed-loop impedance converter, JFET input, and bipolar buffering. RØDE also incorporates internal capsule shock mounting to help isolate the capsule from handling and stand-borne vibration. The microphone is rated for up to 140dB SPL, allowing it to accommodate demanding sound sources when paired with appropriate input gain.

Use the NT1000 with an audio interface, mixer, or microphone preamp that provides 24V or 48V phantom power through a balanced 3-pin XLR connection. The included RM2 stand mount supports placement on compatible microphone stands. It can serve as a primary studio vocal microphone or as a versatile addition alongside specialized dynamic, small-diaphragm, or multi-pattern microphones.

Key Features

  • 1-Inch HF2 Capsule: Large-diaphragm condenser capsule supports detailed studio recording.
  • Cardioid Pickup Pattern: Focuses on the front source and reduces rear pickup.
  • Low Self-Noise: 6dBA equivalent noise supports quieter recording situations.
  • Transformerless Electronics: JFET-based circuitry provides a balanced XLR microphone output.
  • High SPL Handling: Rated for sound-pressure levels up to 140dB SPL.
  • Internal Shock Mounting: Helps reduce vibration reaching the microphone capsule.

Design & Installation

The NT1000 has a durable satin-nickel finish, a high-strength welded and heat-treated mesh head, and a 1-inch gold-sputtered capsule. Its cylindrical side-address body measures 54mm wide by 209mm high and weighs 682g. The internal capsule suspension is integrated into the microphone body rather than being a separate external shock mount.

Mount the NT1000 in the included RM2 stand mount on a stable microphone stand; the mount includes a 3/8-inch to 5/8-inch thread adaptor. Connect it to a balanced 3-pin XLR microphone input and enable P24 or P48 phantom power from a properly functioning interface, mixer, or preamp. For vocal work, use a suitable pop filter and position the microphone's front toward the sound source; for instruments, adjust placement before relying on EQ.
