The RØDE M2 is a handheld condenser microphone built for live vocal performance. It provides a detailed, full-range vocal capture for singers, presenters, and performers using a PA system or professional audio mixer. Its focused pickup pattern helps keep the intended voice prominent in busy stage environments.

Designed for stage use, the M2 combines condenser-microphone detail with a tight supercardioid polar pattern. This pattern helps reduce spill from nearby instruments and stage monitors while supporting feedback-conscious microphone placement. It is well suited to live singing, spoken-word work, and presentations where vocal clarity matters.

A 0.5-inch internally shock-mounted condenser capsule is at the center of the M2's design. The microphone covers a 35Hz to 20kHz frequency range and handles sound-pressure levels up to 141dB SPL. Its JFET impedance converter and bipolar output buffer support balanced operation with compatible professional audio equipment.

The M2 uses a rugged all-metal body intended for repeated live use. A built-in on/off switch can be locked with its screw mechanism to help prevent accidental switching during a performance. The microphone also offers high RF rejection and low handling noise for practical stage operation.

For use in a system, connect the M2 to a balanced XLR microphone input that supplies 24V or 48V phantom power. It can be used with mixing consoles, PA systems, audio interfaces, and other compatible XLR-equipped equipment. An included mic clip and padded zip pouch help support transport and stand-mounted use.

Design & Installation

The M2 has a black, heavy-duty all-metal body with an end-address design and a 47mm diameter. Its 0.5-inch condenser capsule is internally shock-mounted, while the integrated switch includes a locking screw. The microphone weighs 308g and measures 187mm long.

Connect the M2 using a standard balanced 3-pin XLR microphone cable to an input that provides P24 or P48 phantom power. Use the included RM3 mic clip for stand mounting, and aim the front of the microphone toward the vocalist while positioning monitors outside the supercardioid pickup area. The included padded zip pouch is useful for storage and transport.
