Zoom ZMA-1 Broadcast Microphone Arm

The Zoom ZMA-1 is a broadcast-style microphone arm designed to place a microphone where it is needed for podcasts, streams, voice work, and audio broadcasts. It moves the microphone off the desk while keeping it within comfortable speaking distance. The arm provides up to 950 mm of reach for flexible positioning around a workstation.

This microphone arm is suited to creators, presenters, remote workers, and recording setups that need a dedicated desk-mounted microphone position. It supports microphones and attached hardware up to its specified 2 kg maximum load. The 5/8-inch microphone attachment screw accommodates compatible microphone clips, shock mounts, and microphones.

The ZMA-1 does not process or amplify audio; its contribution to a recording setup is stable, repeatable microphone placement. Internal springs are housed within the metal arm for quieter adjustment and a clean exterior appearance. This helps keep the arm’s moving components contained during normal positioning.

Two included mounting methods allow the ZMA-1 to adapt to different desks and work areas. Use the table clamp for an edge-mounted setup, or install the included insert bushing through a suitable desk hole for a more permanent installation. Both options are included, so the mounting approach can be selected for the workspace.

The arm also includes flat cable fasteners for routing a microphone cable along the installation. This makes it a practical addition to a microphone, compatible mount, and recording interface or USB microphone setup. It can be used with Zoom microphones such as the ZDM-1, provided the complete mounted load stays within the specified limit.

Design & Installation

The ZMA-1 uses a metal housing with internal spring connectors rather than exposed external springs. Its specified mic-arm dimensions are 470 mm by 480 mm, and the mic arm itself weighs 1,400 g. The included table clamp weighs 350 g, while the insert bushing weighs 100 g.

For edge mounting, attach the included table clamp to a desk up to 50 mm thick. For through-desk installation, use the included insert bushing with a 22 mm diameter hole in a desk up to 45 mm thick. Attach a compatible microphone or mount to the 5/8-inch screw, keep the total load at or below 2 kg, and use the included flat cable fasteners to secure the cable.
