The Roland JC-22 is a compact stereo guitar combo amplifier designed around the clear, clean sound associated with the Jazz Chorus series. It provides a practical solution for players who want a portable amp with stereo capability for home practice, recording, and smaller performances. Its 30-watt output and dual-speaker layout give guitarists a focused platform without the size of a larger combo.

This amplifier is well suited to players who build their sound with pedals, multi-effects processors, amp modelers, or guitar synthesizers. The front-panel L/MONO and R inputs accept mono or stereo sources, allowing compatible effects to be heard through separate left and right speakers. A direct guitar connection to the L/MONO input provides standard mono operation.

The JC-22 uses two independent power amps and two custom-designed 6.5-inch speakers to produce its stereo presentation. Its Dimensional Space Chorus places direct and modulated sound through separate sides of the amplifier for a spacious effect in the room. Built-in stereo reverb adds adjustable ambience without requiring an external effects unit.

Front-panel controls provide volume adjustment, a Bright switch, and dedicated treble, middle, and bass controls. Separate chorus Speed and Depth controls let players adjust the movement and intensity of the onboard chorus, while the Reverb control adjusts reverb depth. This layout supports straightforward tone shaping for clean electric guitar sounds and pedal-based rigs.

The JC-22 also offers connections for line output, headphones, an external effects loop, and optional footswitches. Its series/parallel effects loop can accommodate mono or stereo external effects, while line outputs can feed a PA system or recorder. This makes the amplifier useful as a compact practice combo, a stereo pedal platform, or part of a small recording and live-performance setup.

Key Features

  • 30-Watt Stereo Output: Two independent power amps drive the compact stereo speaker system.
  • Dual 6.5-Inch Speakers: Two custom-designed speakers reproduce left and right signals.
  • Stereo Inputs: Connect stereo pedals, modelers, multi-effects, or guitar synthesizers.
  • Dimensional Space Chorus: Creates a spacious chorus effect using separate amplifier paths.
  • Stereo Effects Loop: Supports external mono or stereo effects in series or parallel.
  • Footswitch Control: Optional compatible footswitches can switch chorus and reverb on or off.

Design & Installation

The JC-22 uses a hardened fiberboard enclosure with corner protectors for a durable compact-combo design. Its front panel places the input jacks, EQ, volume, reverb, and chorus controls within easy reach, while connection and routing options are located at the rear. At 26 lb 8 oz, it is sized for portable use while retaining dual-speaker stereo operation.

For a direct guitar or mono pedal setup, connect to the INPUT L/MONO jack with a standard 1/4-inch instrument cable. For stereo pedals or processors, connect left and right outputs to the L/MONO and R inputs; mono external effects should use the effects-loop L/MONO return, while stereo effects can use both returns. Connect the line outputs to a compatible PA or recorder when needed, and use the PHONES jack for quiet practice, noting that connecting headphones mutes the internal speakers.
