BOSS KTN-AIR EX Wireless 35W Guitar Amplifier

The BOSS KTN-AIR EX is a compact wireless desktop guitar amplifier designed for everyday playing, practice, and simple recording setups. It combines a stereo speaker system, onboard amp voices, effects, Bluetooth audio, and a dedicated wireless guitar transmitter in one desktop format. The included WL-T transmitter helps eliminate the need for a traditional instrument cable while playing.

This amplifier is suited to electric guitar players who want a practical home setup without assembling separate pedals, a wireless system, and speakers. Its ACOUSTIC/BASS amp character also supports acoustic-electric guitar and bass guitar use. A standard 1/4-inch input is available when a wired instrument connection is preferred.

Two 5-inch speakers work with a wood cabinet and bass-reflex port to produce stereo sound from a compact enclosure. The amp provides up to 35 watts total output when powered by the included AC adaptor, with 17.5 watts per side. Battery operation provides 20 watts total output for portable use.

Five amp characters cover CLEAN, CRUNCH, LEAD, BROWN, and ACOUSTIC/BASS sounds, while more than 60 BOSS effects provide additional tone-shaping options. A three-band EQ, onboard effect controls, tap tempo, and six memories make it possible to create and recall complete amp-and-effects setups. The BOSS Tone Studio mobile app provides deeper editing and practice functions through Bluetooth.

The KTN-AIR EX can play backing tracks from a mobile device through Bluetooth audio or from a music player through its analog aux input. A USB Type-B port supports computer audio recording, while stereo line outputs provide a connection path to a PA system or recording equipment. Headphones can be connected for private practice, and inserting a plug mutes the built-in speakers.

Design & Installation

The KTN-AIR EX uses a custom wood cabinet with a tuned bass-reflex port, twin 5-inch speakers, and a compact desktop footprint. Its top-panel layout includes dedicated amplifier, EQ, effects, master-volume, Bluetooth, and memory controls. Status indicators show power, Bluetooth, guitar wireless, memory, effects, and tap-tempo status.

Place the amplifier on a stable surface with access to its rear and top-panel connections. Use the included AC adaptor for the full 35-watt maximum output, or power it with eight AA alkaline or Ni-MH batteries or the optional Roland BTY-NIMH/A Rechargeable Amp Power Pack. Connect an instrument by the included wireless transmitter or the 1/4-inch input, then use Bluetooth or the aux input for backing tracks as needed.
