The black BC-HOT-BK version pairs classic combo-amp styling with a portable format.

This amplifier is well suited to guitarists who rely on picking dynamics and guitar-volume control to shape clean-to-crunch tones. The Volume and Master controls allow the preamp character and overall loudness to be adjusted independently. A three-band EQ provides practical control of bass, middle, and treble response.

Roland Tube Logic technology is designed to reproduce interactive behaviors associated with vintage tube amplifier circuits, including saturation and power-supply compression characteristics. The result is an amplifier voice that responds to changes in playing intensity and guitar settings. A front-panel Boost function adds natural crunch, while the Tone function adds brighter presence.

The BC-HOT-BK includes onboard reverb for adding depth without requiring an external effects pedal. Its four-position Power Control lets players select 0.5 W, 5 W, 15 W, or MAX output operation for different rooms and playing situations. This makes it practical to use the same core amp settings at lower practice levels or higher rehearsal volume.

For expanded use, the amplifier provides line out, headphones, USB recording, and a footswitch jack for remote Boost and Tone control. It can serve as a straightforward pedal-friendly guitar rig, a compact stage combo, or a direct-recording front end for a computer-based setup. Optional compatible BOSS footswitches can be used when hands-free switching is needed.

Design & Installation

The BC-HOT-BK uses an open-back cabinet made with poplar plywood construction and houses one custom 12-inch speaker. Its controls are arranged on the top panel for direct access to gain, EQ, reverb, master volume, and output-power settings. The amplifier measures 17-1/16 inches wide and weighs 27 lb 13 oz., excluding protrusions.

Connect an electric guitar to the 1/4-inch INPUT jack and use the Master and Power Control settings to suit the room. Line Out can feed another audio device, while the PHONES jack supports private practice and USB Type-B REC OUT supports computer recording. For remote operation, connect a compatible optional BOSS FS-5L, FS-6, or FS-7 footswitch to the TRS FOOT SW jack; the footswitch controls Boost and Tone.
