The JC-40 is a self-contained guitar combo amplifier with a durable, road-oriented enclosure, dual front-mounted 10-inch speakers, and a front control panel. Its layout includes dedicated controls for volume, three-band EQ, distortion, reverb, modulation speed, and modulation depth. A Bright switch provides an additional tonal shaping option.

Connect a guitar or mono source to the INPUT L/MONO jack; use both INPUT L/MONO and R jacks when feeding a stereo-output device. External effects can be connected through the EFFECT LOOP SEND and left/mono and right return jacks, while line outputs can feed a mixer or recorder. Optional compatible BOSS footswitches can be connected to control chorus/vibrato, reverb, and distortion during performance.
