AUDIO360 AD0C 0 AWG Amplifier Wiring Kit $78.00
Bundle total: $547.99

The BOSS KTN-AIR Katana-Air is a compact wireless desktop guitar amplifier designed to make everyday practice and casual playing simpler. Its included WL-T transmitter plugs directly into a compatible guitar, eliminating the need for a traditional instrument cable between the guitar and amp. The compact format is suited to home practice spaces, desks, and portable setups where a full-size amplifier is unnecessary.

Katana-Air delivers stereo sound through two 3-inch speakers and produces up to 30 watts when powered by the included AC adaptor. It can also operate on eight AA batteries, producing up to 20 watts for cord-free use away from an AC outlet. This makes it practical for room-to-room playing, travel, informal jams, and practice sessions.

Five onboard amp characters provide a range of sounds from clean tones to the high-gain Brown character, plus a dedicated setting for acoustic-electric guitar. The amplifier provides access to over 60 BOSS effects, including boost, modulation, delay, and reverb types. Six onboard memories let players save and recall preferred amp and effect combinations without rebuilding a sound each time.

BOSS wireless technology is paired with a compact WL-T transmitter that offers approximately 12 hours of continuous operating time per charge. The transmitter docks in the amplifier for charging and includes motion sensing to wake the system from power-saving standby when the guitar is moved. This helps keep the setup ready for spontaneous playing while reducing unnecessary power use during idle periods.

Katana-Air also works as a practice and recording hub. Bluetooth supports wireless music playback and use with the BOSS Tone Studio app for iOS and Android, while the analog aux input accommodates a separate music player. A USB Type-B port provides computer audio-interface functionality, and the phones/recording output includes mic'd cabinet emulation for private practice or direct recording.

Key Features

  • Wireless Guitar System: The included WL-T transmitter removes the need for a guitar cable during normal playing.
  • Stereo Desktop Amplifier: Dual 3-inch speakers provide stereo sound in a compact desktop enclosure.
  • Katana Amp Characters: Five amp characters cover clean, driven, high-gain, and acoustic-electric guitar sounds.
  • Built-In Effects: Access over 60 BOSS effects for shaping practice and performance tones.
  • Rechargeable Transmitter: Dock the WL-T in the amp to charge its internal lithium-ion battery.
  • Practice And Recording Connectivity: Bluetooth, aux input, USB audio, and phones/recording output support multiple uses.

Design & Installation

BOSS does not publish a cabinet-material specification for the Katana-Air. Its compact desktop design measures 13-13/16 inches wide, 5-11/16 inches deep, and 7-1/8 inches high, with a listed weight of 4 lb 14 oz excluding batteries. The front-panel layout provides dedicated controls for amplifier type, gain, volume, three-band EQ, effects, master level, and tone-setting memories.

Place the amplifier on a stable, ventilated surface and power it with the included AC adaptor or eight compatible AA cells. Insert the WL-T into a compatible guitar output jack and pair or connect as directed in the owner's manual; the transmitter is designed for standard guitar jacks, though certain special wiring arrangements or physically restricted jack areas may not be compatible. Use the aux input or Bluetooth for backing tracks, connect headphones to the phones/recording output for quiet practice, or connect USB Type-B to a computer for audio-interface use.
