The Fender Blues Junior IV is a compact all-tube guitar combo amplifier built for players who want a straightforward amp with familiar controls and onboard spring reverb. Its 15-watt output and single 12-inch speaker format make it suited to home practice, rehearsal, recording, and smaller performance setups. The Black 120V version combines a traditional Fender-style control layout with a portable cabinet footprint.

This is a single-channel amplifier with separate Volume and Master controls, allowing players to set preamp gain and overall output level independently. Lower Volume settings support cleaner sounds, while higher settings add more distortion and sustain. Treble, Bass, and Middle controls provide direct tonal adjustment without requiring external processing.

A 12-inch Celestion A-Type speaker handles the amp's output through an 8-ohm load. Fender specifies modified preamp circuitry intended to add fullness, along with a revised spring reverb circuit for smoother adjustment. The result is a tube-driven combo platform with built-in ambience and practical tone-shaping controls.

The FAT function boosts preamp gain for added drive and sustain, and it can be activated from the front panel or with the included one-button footswitch. Connecting the footswitch enables remote FAT switching and disables the panel FAT switch. This gives players a simple way to move between standard and thicker gain settings while playing.

The Blues Junior IV fits naturally into a guitar-and-pedalboard setup, with one 1/4-inch instrument input for direct connection. Its speaker jack supports the installed speaker or an 8-ohm external speaker cabinet, with an 8-ohm load required whenever the amplifier is powered on. For players seeking a compact tube combo before expanding a broader guitar rig, it provides core amplification, EQ, gain control, and reverb in one enclosure.

Key Features

  • 15-Watt Tube Output: Delivers tube amplification in a compact guitar combo format.
  • Celestion A-Type Speaker: A 12-inch, 8-ohm speaker handles the amplifier's output.
  • Modified Preamp Circuit: Designed for increased fullness while retaining adjustable gain control.
  • Spring Reverb: Provides onboard reverb with a revised, smoother control response.
  • FAT Boost Function: Increases preamp gain for added distortion and sustain.
  • Included Footswitch: Enables remote activation of the FAT boost circuit.

Design & Installation

The cabinet uses 3/4-inch particle board with textured vinyl covering, a lightly aged silver grille cloth, and a black front panel. Fender equips it with ivory chicken-head style pointer knobs, a red jewel power indicator, and a molded plastic strap handle with nickel-plated caps. A tube stabilizer is fitted to help reduce output-tube vibration and microphonics.

Connect a guitar to the single 1/4-inch input and connect the non-IEC power cord to a grounded outlet that matches the amplifier's rear-panel voltage and frequency requirements. Use the included one-button footswitch with the footswitch jack when remote FAT switching is desired. If using the speaker jack with an external cabinet, maintain an 8-ohm speaker load whenever the amplifier is on.
