The Roland TM-6PRO is a professional trigger module designed to add electronic sounds, samples, and control to an acoustic drum kit. It helps drummers keep a more consistent and flexible sound from venue to venue while retaining familiar acoustic playing technique. Six trigger inputs let the module serve as the center of a compact hybrid-drum setup.

Built-in sounds cover both sampled and V-Drums-based performance needs. The module includes 268 preset instruments and 500 factory-preloaded user samples, with 100 drum kits for organizing sounds by song or playing situation. Its sound library can reinforce acoustic drums, add electronic percussion, or provide layered effects and accents.

For players recreating specific recorded parts, the TM-6PRO imports WAV user samples from an SD card. It supports up to 1,000 total user samples, including the 500 factory-preloaded samples, with up to 48 minutes of mono or 24 minutes of stereo sample time. This makes it practical to bring selected studio-style sounds into a live or rehearsal setup.

The TM-6PRO provides detailed sound shaping without requiring an external processor. Per-pad EQ, transient processing, compression, and multi-effects allow individual trigger sounds to be tailored, while master compression and EQ address the overall output. Three Sound Modify knobs provide direct access to commonly used sound adjustments including volume, pitch, decay, transient, and assigned multi-effect parameters.

Designed for hybrid acoustic and electronic drum systems, the module works with compatible Roland acoustic triggers, pads, cymbals, kick pads, hi-hat components, and footswitches. Its main, direct, headphone, MIDI, and USB audio/MIDI connections support stage monitoring, front-of-house routing, and computer-based recording. LED trigger indicators and a graphic LCD help provide visual feedback during setup and performance.

Design & Installation

The TM-6PRO uses a compact 228 x 233 x 66 mm format intended for placement near an acoustic kit or on an optional stand or clamp. Roland does not specify enclosure materials in its published specifications, but the design includes a front-panel graphic LCD, three Sound Modify knobs, dedicated controls, and LED trigger-status indicators. At 1.0 kg excluding its AC adaptor, it is sized for portable hybrid-drum applications.

Connect compatible triggers or pads to the six 1/4-inch TRS trigger inputs, then select the appropriate trigger type and adjust sensitivity settings as needed. A separately available Y-cable arrangement can connect two triggers to one trigger input, allowing up to 12 triggers or pads. Route audio through the master outputs, direct outputs, or headphone output, and use an SD card for sample import, song playback, and backup functions.
