Zoom BTA-2 Bluetooth Adapter for PodTrak Recorders

The Zoom BTA-2 is a dedicated Bluetooth adapter for bringing smartphone-based callers into a compatible PodTrak recording setup. It connects directly to the PodTrak P4, PodTrak P4next, or PodTrak P8, allowing remote guests to participate without a wired phone connection. This makes it useful for podcasters recording interviews, call-ins, and conversations from virtually any location with phone connectivity.

Designed for phone-call audio rather than general wireless playback, the BTA-2 works as a Bluetooth transmitter and receiver for the PodTrak smartphone connection. Once paired, a smartphone can be used with compatible calling apps such as Phone, Skype, and Zoom. The adapter routes the call into the recorder so the remote guest can be incorporated into a podcast workflow.

The BTA-2 is intended for creators who want a more streamlined alternative to a separate TRRS phone cable. Its dedicated dual-connector design supplies both the audio connection and operating power through the compatible PodTrak recorder. There is no separate audio cable to configure between the adapter and recorder.

For remote interview recording, the BTA-2 works with the PodTrak system's smartphone input path and mix-minus capability. On supported PodTrak recorders, the return signal sent to a phone caller can exclude the caller's own channel, helping prevent echo during conversations. The adapter itself does not replace the recorder; it expands the recorder's phone-connectivity options.

A pairing switch and status LED keep setup straightforward for mobile podcast production. The LED lights white when power is supplied, flashes white during pairing standby, and lights blue after a connection is completed. Previously paired smartphones can reconnect automatically when the compatible recorder is powered on.

Design & Installation

The BTA-2 uses a compact, purpose-built design with two integrated TRRS connectors and a pairing switch. A 3.5 mm TRRS connector carries the audio signal, while a 2.5 mm TRRS connector receives power from the compatible PodTrak recorder. Its black finish and integrated layout are designed to sit directly alongside the recorder's smartphone connection and BTA-2 power connector.

Connect the BTA-2 while the compatible PodTrak recorder is powered off, then turn the recorder on and pair it with the smartphone. On the P4next, select the smartphone connection input for channel 4 when using the BTA-2. Use it with a compatible PodTrak recorder and a Bluetooth-capable smartphone; the recorder and phone are required and are not included.
