Shure MV6 USB Gaming Microphone

The Shure MV6 is a dynamic USB gaming microphone designed for streaming, gaming, podcasting, voice chat, and desktop recording. It connects through USB-C for a straightforward setup with compatible computers and mobile devices. Its cardioid pickup pattern is engineered to focus on the person speaking into the microphone while reducing pickup from the rear and sides.

This microphone is suited to gamers, streamers, and creators who want a dedicated voice microphone without adding an XLR interface or separate preamp to their desk. The built-in 3.5 mm headphone output allows direct headphone monitoring while recording, streaming, or chatting. A touch-operated mute control provides quick microphone muting from the desktop.

The MV6 uses a moving-coil dynamic transducer with a 50 Hz to 15 kHz frequency response. Its focused cardioid pattern and Voice Isolation Technology help reduce the impact of room noise, keyboard noise, fans, and other off-axis distractions. This makes it particularly practical for speech-focused use in typical home gaming or streaming spaces.

Internal DSP tools include Auto Level Mode, Digital Popper Stopper, Real-time Denoiser, a tone control, and a high-pass filter. Auto Level Mode adjusts microphone gain in real time, while the Denoiser and Popper Stopper are intended to help manage background noise and plosive sounds. Settings can be adjusted through the Shure MOTIV Mix desktop app or compatible Shure MOTIV mobile apps.

The MV6 includes a round desktop base stand and a 1 m USB-C to USB-C cable, creating a ready-to-use desktop microphone setup. Its 5/8-inch-27 threaded mount also supports compatible microphone mounting hardware when a boom arm or alternate stand is preferred. The USB-C, headphone-monitoring, and software-control features make it a flexible upgrade for a gaming desk or creator workstation.

Design & Installation

The MV6 uses a diecast zinc-alloy housing and a desktop-oriented form factor inspired by Shure's broadcast-style microphone designs. It includes a sturdy round base desktop stand, while the microphone itself uses a standard 5/8-inch-27 threaded mounting point. The touch mute button offers an integrated control point without requiring a separate inline switch.

For setup, connect the included USB-C to USB-C cable between the microphone and a compatible USB-C host device, then select the MV6 as the audio input in the desired game, streaming, chat, or recording software. Connect headphones to the 3.5 mm output for direct monitoring and adjust microphone, monitor-mix, tone, denoiser, popper-stopper, and high-pass-filter settings in MOTIV Mix where desired. Lightning-equipped iOS devices require a separate USB-C to Lightning cable.
