Its focused shotgun pickup pattern helps capture a desired source while reducing pickup from the sides and rear. Each sE6160 uses a hand-crafted small-diaphragm true condenser capsule with a gold-sputtered diaphragm. The microphone is designed for a natural, controlled sound character with low equivalent noise and strong off-axis rejection. The sE6160 provides practical control for changing recording conditions. Its switchable attenuation pad offers 0 dB, -10 dB, and -20 dB settings for high-level sources, while the selectable low-cut filter provides 80 Hz and 160 Hz positions to help reduce rumble, footfall noise, and excess low-frequency buildup. With the -20 dB pad engaged, each microphone is rated to handle up to 157 dB SPL at 0.5% THD.

A supercardioid/lobar shotgun pattern gives the sE6160 a narrow, forward-focused pickup area. This can help improve gain before feedback in live environments and reduce unwanted bleed when working around PA systems, stage noise, or nearby instruments. The transformerless output and 3-pin XLR connection support integration with standard professional microphone inputs.

Connect each microphone with a balanced XLR microphone cable to a mixer, recorder, or audio interface that supplies 48 V phantom power in accordance with IEC 61938. Use the included microphone clips and thread adapters to mount the pair on compatible stands, stereo bars, or boom hardware. Start with the pad and low-cut switches centered, then select attenuation or low-cut settings when the source level or low-frequency noise calls for them.
