Mackie CR4-XBT 4" Bluetooth Multimedia Monitor Pair

The Mackie CR4-XBT is a self-powered pair of compact multimedia monitors for desktop listening, home studios, content creation, and entertainment setups. One monitor contains the amplification and connections, while the second monitor is powered through the included speaker-to-speaker cable. This design provides a straightforward alternative to basic computer speakers when you need stereo sound from a computer, mixer, or Bluetooth device.

Each monitor uses a 4-inch polypropylene-coated woofer and a 0.75-inch ferrofluid-cooled silk-dome tweeter. The two-way design crosses over at 3 kHz and is specified for a 65 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response at -3 dB. A custom-tuned rear port is used to extend low-frequency response from the compact cabinet.

Bluetooth 4.2 audio streaming lets you play music wirelessly from a compatible device without adding a separate receiver. For wired sources, the powered monitor provides 1/4-inch TRS balanced or unbalanced inputs plus unbalanced RCA inputs. The inputs are intended for line-level sources such as computers, audio interfaces, mixers, and media players.

The CR4-XBT includes a front-panel volume control that also switches the monitors on and off. A front 1/8-inch stereo headphone output is available for private listening, and connecting headphones automatically disables speaker output. The illuminated front control also serves as the Bluetooth pairing button and supports play/pause control for a connected Bluetooth device.

This pair is designed for AC-powered desktop and room use rather than vehicle installation. The powered-speaker position switch lets you place the monitor with the controls on either the left or right side of the desk. Its compact format and line-level connectivity make it suitable for a simple computer-audio setup or as a monitoring pair connected to an interface or mixer.

Design & Installation

The CR4-XBT uses rectangular solid-MDF cabinets with a black vinyl wrap, adiabatic batting, and custom-tuned rear ports. The powered monitor has the front volume/Bluetooth control, while the second monitor connects by spring terminals. A power ring surrounding the front logo provides operating status illumination.

Place the monitors on a stable desktop or shelf with clearance around the rear ports, then connect the included speaker cable between the red and black spring terminals. Connect one line-level source through either the RCA or 1/4-inch inputs, or pair a Bluetooth device; do not connect more than one wired input type at once. Set the powered-speaker position switch for left or right placement, connect the attached AC power cord, and use the front control to set volume.
