Mackie CR4.5BT 4.5" Powered Studio Monitor Speakers

The Mackie CR4.5BT is a compact powered stereo monitor pair designed for desktop production, computer audio, gaming, and everyday music listening. It combines wired analog connections with Bluetooth streaming, helping users connect a variety of sources without needing a separate amplifier. One speaker contains the controls and amplifier, while the included speaker cable connects the companion passive monitor.

Each monitor uses a 4.5-inch woven woofer and a silk-dome tweeter with a protective grille in a two-way configuration. The system delivers a 65 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response at -3 dB, with a 55 Hz to 20 kHz response at -10 dB. A custom-tuned rear port supports low-frequency extension from the compact MDF cabinets.

The front-panel tone control lets listeners move from a more transparent monitor-oriented balance toward added bass and high-frequency sparkle. This makes the CR4.5BT practical for creators who want a focused reference-style setting as well as listeners who prefer a more energized presentation. A front-panel volume control provides convenient day-to-day adjustment.

A rear location switch adapts the monitor response for Desktop or Bookshelf placement. Desktop mode is intended for close listening at a workstation, while Bookshelf mode is intended for listening farther away. The powered speaker can also be assigned to the left or right side of the stereo pair with its position-select switch.

Connection options include balanced or unbalanced 1/4-inch TRS, unbalanced RCA, and a 3.5 mm stereo analog input, along with Bluetooth 5.0 audio streaming. A 3.5 mm headphone output provides private listening and mutes speaker playback when headphones are connected. For a larger system, the CR4.5BT can be used alongside Mackie's CR8SBT powered subwoofer.

Design & Installation

The CR4.5BT pair uses rectangular solid-MDF enclosures finished in black vinyl wrap. Each speaker has a custom-tuned rear port, while the high-frequency driver is protected by a grille. The powered speaker carries the front-panel controls, Bluetooth pairing button, and headphone jack.

Place the monitors on a stable desk, shelf, or stands and use the included foam foot pads as needed. Connect the powered monitor to the passive monitor with the included speaker wire, select the powered speaker's left or right position, then choose Desktop or Bookshelf mode for the listening setup. Connect a source through 1/4-inch TRS, RCA, 3.5 mm, or Bluetooth, and power the system from a compatible AC outlet.
