The Arturia MINILAB MKII INVERTER is a compact USB MIDI keyboard controller built for creating music with software instruments, plug-ins, and digital audio workstations. Its limited-edition inverted key colors distinguish it visually while retaining the same hands-on controller layout as the standard MiniLab MkII. It is designed for desktop production spaces, mobile setups, and musicians who want direct physical control without a large keyboard.

A 25-key velocity-sensitive slim keyboard provides a compact way to play bass lines, chords, melodies, and virtual instruments. Octave buttons extend the playable range by up to four octaves above or below center. Touch strips provide pitch-bend and modulation control without adding the bulk of conventional wheels.

The controller combines keyboard performance with tactile parameter control for software-based workflows. Sixteen rotary encoders can be assigned to editable parameters, while encoders 1 and 9 also have push-button functions. This makes the MiniLab MkII suitable for adjusting instrument sounds, plug-in effects, mixer controls, and DAW parameters from the hardware.

Eight pressure-sensitive pads provide access to two pad banks for up to 16 MIDI note assignments. They can be used for finger drumming, triggering samples, launching notes, or recalling internal memories when used with the Shift button. The pads and controller assignments can be customized with Arturia MIDI Control Center.

The MINILAB MKII INVERTER connects to a computer through USB for MIDI communication and bus power, helping keep a compact workstation simple. It includes Analog Lab Lite, Ableton Live Lite, and UVI Grand Piano Model D software as supplied with this edition. A sustain-pedal input also allows a compatible switch-type pedal to be added for more traditional keyboard performance control.

Key Features

  • Inverted Limited-Edition Finish: Switched black-and-white key colors give this controller a distinctive appearance.
  • 25 Velocity-Sensitive Keys: Slim keys support expressive note input in a compact footprint.
  • 16 Assignable Encoders: Hands-on controls can adjust compatible software and MIDI parameters.
  • Two Clickable Encoders: Encoders 1 and 9 add push functions for navigation and control.
  • Pressure-Sensitive Pad Banks: Eight pads access two banks for up to 16 MIDI-note assignments.
  • USB MIDI Connection: A single USB connection carries MIDI data and powers the controller.

Design & Installation

The MiniLab MkII uses a compact controller format with a 25-key slim keyboard, rotary encoders, backlit performance pads, touch strips, and a rear-panel pedal connection. The Inverted edition changes the key-color presentation while using the same physical control concept as the MiniLab MkII. A Kensington security-lock port is provided on the rear panel.

Connect the controller to a compatible computer using the included USB cable, then select it as a MIDI input device in your DAW or compatible music software. Arturia MIDI Control Center can be used to configure templates, controller assignments, pad settings, velocity curves, and device settings. For iPad or Android use, an appropriate Apple Camera Connection Kit or dedicated OTG cable is required; the included computer software is intended for Windows or macOS systems.
