The Arturia MINIBRUTE2 is a monophonic semi-modular analog synthesizer with a 25-key performance keyboard, hands-on sound controls, and an onboard sequencer. It gives players a direct way to create basses, leads, percussion, drones, and experimental textures without requiring a separate modular system. Its normalled signal path allows it to operate as a complete instrument while leaving room for deeper patching.

Designed for musicians who want tactile analog synthesis with expandability, the MINIBRUTE2 combines familiar subtractive-synthesis controls with a 48-point CV and Gate patchbay. The two VCOs, multimode filter, noise generator, envelopes, LFOs, and utility functions provide a broad foundation for building patches. It is well suited to keyboard players, electronic producers, and modular users who want one instrument that can serve both roles.

The sound starts with two analog VCOs that offer multiple waveforms and shaping tools. VCO 1 includes UltraSaw, pulse-width control, and Metalizer processing, while VCO 2 supplies sine, saw, and square waveforms across three tuning ranges. Hard sync, linear FM, exponential FM, white noise, external audio input, and Brute Factor drive provide additional options for harmonic detail and more aggressive timbres.

A 12 dB-per-octave Steiner-Parker filter offers low-pass, high-pass, band-pass, and notch modes for shaping the instrument's tonal range. Two sync-capable LFOs provide six waveform types each, and the ADSR and AD envelopes support dynamic articulation and modulation. The AD envelope can operate in trigger or gate mode, with one-shot or loop behavior and CV-controllable attack and decay times.

The MINIBRUTE2 can be played directly from its velocity- and pressure-sensitive keyboard or used as a sequenced sound source in a larger setup. Its sequencer stores eight sequences of up to 64 steps, while the arpeggiator offers eight playback modes for quick pattern generation. MIDI, USB MIDI, and patchable clock connections help it integrate with DAWs, drum machines, external MIDI hardware, and Eurorack-compatible modular equipment.

Key Features

  • Two Analog VCOs: Mix and shape multiple oscillator waveforms for a wide range of monophonic sounds.
  • Steiner-Parker Filter: Select low-pass, high-pass, band-pass, or notch filtering to refine tonal character.
  • 48-Point Patchbay: Route CV and Gate signals between internal sections and compatible Eurorack gear.
  • Dual LFO Section: Use two sync-capable modulation sources with six waveform types each.
  • Sequencer And Arpeggiator: Create repeatable melodic patterns, real-time recordings, and stepped sequences.
  • Expressive Keyboard: Play from 25 velocity- and pressure-sensitive keys with octave transposition.

Design & Installation

The MINIBRUTE2 uses a rugged aluminum and wood enclosure designed for desktop performance and studio use. Its front-panel layout places the oscillator, filter, modulation, sequencer, and patching controls within easy reach. The compact keyboard format keeps the instrument portable while retaining dedicated physical controls for primary functions.

Connect the supplied external power adapter, then route the main audio output to a mixer, audio interface, powered monitor system, or amplifier. Use MIDI DIN or USB MIDI for control and synchronization with hardware or software, and use 3.5 mm patch cables to connect the patchbay with compatible CV/Gate and Eurorack-level equipment. The instrument can be played without patch cables through its normalled internal routing, while patching enables alternate modulation and signal paths.
