The Arturia MICROBRUTE UFO is a limited-edition monophonic analog synthesizer designed for hands-on sound creation in compact studio, live, and hardware-based music setups. It combines a 25-note mini keyboard, onboard step sequencer, and patchable modulation system in a portable desktop format. The UFO edition retains the original MicroBrute architecture while adding a space-black finish with martian-green detailing.
This synthesizer is suited to musicians who want direct control of basses, leads, percussion, sequences, and experimental textures without navigating menus. Its fully analog audio signal path centers on a voltage-controlled oscillator and a Steiner-Parker multimode filter. Front-panel controls allow sounds to be shaped quickly during writing, recording, or performance.
The oscillator section blends sawtooth, pulse, triangle, and overtone waveforms, with PWM, Ultrasaw, Metalizer, and overtone controls for expanding the harmonic character. The Steiner-Parker filter offers low-pass, band-pass, and high-pass modes, while resonance can reach self-oscillation. Brute Factor adds internally routed feedback for adjustable saturation and more complex harmonic response.
A patchable Mod Matrix lets users route the LFO, envelope, keyboard CV, and external control voltages to sound-shaping destinations. The LFO provides three waveforms and can run freely or synchronize with the sequencer. A dedicated ADSR envelope, keyboard tracking, glide, pitch wheel, and assignable modulation wheel support expressive performance control.
MICROBRUTE UFO can serve as a compact standalone instrument or integrate with computers, MIDI hardware, analog synths, and modular-compatible gear. Its sequencer stores eight patterns with up to 64 steps each, and USB MIDI supports communication with a computer and Arturia's editing software. Audio input, line output, headphone output, MIDI input, and CV/Gate connections make it practical for expanding an existing music-production setup.
Key Features

- 64-Step Sequencer: Stores eight playable patterns for repeatable musical phrases.
- MIDI and CV Integration: Connects with DAWs, MIDI devices, and analog gear.
Design & Installation
The MICROBRUTE UFO uses a compact desktop chassis with a steel bottom panel, 25 mini keys, tactile knobs, sliders, patch points, and a limited-edition space-black and martian-green exterior. Its control layout places oscillator, filter, modulation, envelope, and sequencing functions on the front panel for immediate adjustment. The unit measures 60 x 325 x 221 mm and weighs 1.75 kg.
Place the synthesizer on a stable desktop, keyboard stand shelf, or performance surface, then connect the included 12V DC, 1A center-positive power supply. Connect its 1/4-inch line output to a mixer, audio interface, or amplifier, or use the 1/8-inch headphone output for personal monitoring. USB MIDI, DIN MIDI input, and 1V/oct CV/Gate connections support integration with computer-based and analog hardware systems; the rear audio input is line level, so microphones and guitars require a suitable preamp.

Is the MICROBRUTE UFO polyphonic?
No. It is a monophonic analog synthesizer, so it plays one note at a time. Its oscillator mixing and sound modifiers can still create dense timbres.
Can I connect it to a computer or DAW?
Yes. The USB Type-B port supports MIDI communication and works with MicroBrute Connection software for selected internal settings, sequencer settings, and firmware updates.
Can it work with modular or other analog synth gear?
Yes. It provides CV inputs and outputs using the 1V-per-octave standard, plus Gate In and Gate Out connections. The Mod Matrix can route internal and external control voltages.
What is included with the synthesizer?
The box includes the MicroBrute synthesizer, user manual, preset sheets, power supply, and two mini-jack patch cords. Additional audio, MIDI, USB, or CV cables may be needed for a particular setup.
Can I process an external audio source through it?
Yes. Its rear-panel audio input can feed an external line-level source through the MicroBrute filter and amplifier path. A microphone or guitar needs a preamp before connecting because the input is line level.
Does it have built-in speakers?
No speaker output is specified. Use the 1/4-inch line output with a mixer, interface, or amplifier, or connect headphones to the 1/8-inch headphone output.
