Arturia BEATSTEP PRO WHITE Performance Sequencer

The Arturia BeatStep Pro is a desktop MIDI controller and performance sequencer built to coordinate hardware synths, modular systems, drum machines, and computer-based instruments from one hands-on surface. Its dual melodic sequencers and dedicated drum sequencer make it practical for building complete rhythmic and melodic arrangements without relying on a keyboard controller. It is suited to electronic musicians, live performers, beatmakers, and modular users who need flexible sequencing alongside direct control.

Two independent monophonic step sequencers provide up to 64 steps per sequence, with per-step note, velocity, gate-time, and tie editing. A separate 16-track drum sequencer gives each pad its own drum track for programming percussion patterns. This layout makes it possible to run bass lines, lead patterns, and drum parts at the same time from a compact controller.

The BeatStep Pro provides a tactile workflow through 16 touch-sensitive endless encoders, 16 color-coded step buttons, and 16 velocity- and pressure-sensitive performance pads. Its pads can be configured for MIDI functions in Control Mode, while the encoders can send assignable MIDI data or edit sequence parameters. A touch strip supports Roller and Looper performance functions for real-time pattern variation.

For modular and analog setups, the controller includes dedicated pitch, velocity, and gate outputs for each melodic sequencer, plus eight drum gate outputs. Pitch CV can be configured for Volt-per-octave or Hertz-per-Volt operation, while gate behavior can be set for V-trigger or S-trigger systems. MIDI, USB, and clock synchronization connections allow it to operate with both modern software workflows and external electronic instruments.

BeatStep Pro stores 16 projects, each with melodic and drum pattern storage plus a controller map, helping performers organize multiple song sections or setups. It can run from its internal clock or synchronize to USB, MIDI, or external clock sources. Included Ableton Live Lite, Analog Lab Intro, and Arturia MIDI Control Center software support DAW integration, sound access, and detailed configuration.

Design & Installation

The BeatStep Pro uses a compact desktop format with a white finish, illuminated step buttons, a central display, and clearly divided sequencing sections. Its color-coded controls and rear-panel connection labeling help distinguish the two melodic sequencers from the drum section. A Kensington lock slot is provided for physical security in studio or performance environments.

Connect the unit to a computer or USB power source with its micro-USB connection, then use the supplied MIDI adapters for compatible 5-pin DIN MIDI equipment. Modular users can patch the dedicated CV, velocity, gate, and drum-gate outputs to compatible destinations; confirm voltage and trigger requirements before connecting analog gear. Use Arturia MIDI Control Center to configure MIDI assignments, CV/gate behavior, clock settings, and saved projects.
