Zoom ZL6 LiveTrak L-6 10-Channel Mixer/Recorder

The Zoom ZL6 LiveTrak L-6 is a compact digital mixer, multitrack recorder, and USB audio interface designed for musicians, synth players, podcasters, and mobile creators. It combines two mono mic/line inputs with four stereo line-input channels for connecting microphones, instruments, synthesizers, effects processors, and playback devices. The L-6 records individual input tracks alongside a stereo mix directly to a microSD card.

Its 32-bit float architecture and dual A/D converter circuits on Inputs 1 and 2 are designed to simplify level handling for sources with widely varying volume. This approach helps preserve usable audio when working with quiet acoustic sources, vocal microphones, electronic instruments, and louder live signals. Each channel includes level control, panning, muting, EQ, AUX sends, and effect-send control for hands-on mix adjustment.

The L-6 is well suited to tabletop electronic-music rigs, rehearsal recording, small live setups, streaming stations, and podcast workflows that need multiple sources in a small footprint. Four stereo line-input pairs accommodate stereo synths and effects, while the Channel 3/4 inputs can each be switched to accept two mono sources. Two AUX sends support monitor mixes, external effects, or other routing needs.

For recording and computer integration, the LiveTrak L-6 works as a 12-input, 4-output USB 2.0 audio interface at 48 kHz. It can record to microSD while connected as an audio interface, and it supports USB connection with computers, iOS devices, and Android devices. MIDI connectivity through 3.5 mm TRS MIDI I/O and USB helps integrate external hardware, DAW control, pad triggering, and tempo-related functions.

Four onboard sound pads can play assigned WAV files for backing tracks, samples, intros, or other prepared audio. The mixer also includes three scene memories for recalling saved settings, five onboard send effects, and a compressor for the main outputs. Power options include four AA batteries, the included Zoom AD-17 USB AC adapter, USB bus power, or a compatible 5 V portable battery for flexible desktop and portable use.

Design & Installation

The LiveTrak L-6 uses a compact desktop mixer layout with dedicated LED control knobs, channel controls, level meters, sound pads, scene buttons, and clearly separated input/output connections. Zoom does not publish an enclosure-material specification. Its control-forward design keeps frequently used mixing, recording, monitor, and effects functions accessible without requiring a computer.

Connect microphones or line-level sources to the two XLR/TRS combo inputs, then connect stereo instruments and effects to the four 1/4-inch stereo line-input pairs. Use the balanced MASTER outputs for powered monitors or a PA system, the MONITOR output for headphones, and the AUX SEND outputs for external processors or monitor routing. A microSDHC or microSDXC card rated Class 10 or higher is required for standalone recording; the optional ERL-6 adapter can mount the L-6 in a standard Eurorack case.
