The PreSonus StudioLive AR8c is an 8-channel analog mixer, USB audio interface, and stereo SD recorder in one compact console. It gives musicians, podcasters, livestreamers, and small production teams a straightforward way to mix multiple sources while recording to a computer or SD card. Physical channel controls keep hands-on setup practical for recording sessions, rehearsals, and simple live applications.
Four Class A XMAX microphone preamps provide the primary front end for vocal and instrument microphones, while two high-impedance instrument/line inputs accommodate guitars, basses, and line-level sources. Additional stereo line inputs and the Stereo Super Channel expand connection options for playback devices and external sources. Global +48V phantom power supports compatible condenser microphones across the mic inputs.
The AR8c combines its analog signal path with an 8x4, 24-bit/96 kHz USB 2.0 interface using a USB-C connection. It can send individual channels and the main mix to recording software, allowing multitrack capture rather than only a stereo recording. The included Capture recording software is designed for direct session capture, while the bundled DAW software supports further editing and production on Mac and Windows.
For standalone recording, the onboard 2x2 SD recorder captures the main stereo mix as a WAV file without requiring a computer. The Super Channel adds Bluetooth 5.0 wireless playback, RCA inputs, a 1/8-inch stereo input, and selectable SD or USB playback. A 16-preset stereo effects processor adds reverb, delay, and chorus options for monitoring or mixing.
This mixer fits well at the center of a small recording or streaming setup, connecting microphones, instruments, playback devices, headphones, monitors, and a computer from one location. Balanced main XLR outputs and additional balanced TRS outputs support integration with powered speakers, monitors, and external effects paths. Its compact format also makes it suitable for portable production systems where multitrack USB recording and standalone stereo recording are both useful.

- 16-Preset Effects Processor: Supplies onboard stereo reverb, delay, and chorus effects with dedicated send and return routing.
- Recording Software Included: Includes Capture software and a Studio One Pro/Fender Studio Pro software license for recording and production.
Design & Installation
The StudioLive AR8c uses a compact blue-and-black mixer chassis with dedicated knobs, faders, switches, input connectors, and LED level indication. Its analog control layout provides direct access to levels, EQ, sends, monitoring, and playback routing. The unit uses an internal power supply with a standard IEC power connection.
Place the mixer on a stable, ventilated desktop or production surface, then connect microphones by XLR, instruments by 1/4-inch TS, and balanced line sources by 1/4-inch TRS as appropriate. Connect a computer through the USB-C-compatible USB 2.0 port for multitrack recording, or use a properly formatted SD/SDHC card for stereo main-mix recording. Main XLR outputs are suited to balanced connections with powered speakers or a PA system, while headphones, control-room, monitor, and effects connections support monitoring and routing needs.

Can the StudioLive AR8c record separate channels to a computer?
Yes. Its 8x4 USB audio interface can record every channel plus the main mix to compatible recording software. USB recording supports up to 24-bit/96 kHz operation.
Can I record without connecting a computer?
Yes. The onboard 2x2 SD recorder records the main stereo mix to SD or SDHC media. It supports SD cards up to 2 GB and SDHC cards up to 32 GB.
Does it support condenser microphones?
Yes. The four XMAX microphone inputs have global +48V phantom power. Because phantom power is global, use appropriate care when connecting microphones and other devices.
What devices can connect to the Stereo Super Channel?
The Stereo Super Channel provides Bluetooth 5.0 wireless playback, stereo RCA inputs, a 1/8-inch stereo input, and selectable SD or USB stereo playback. This makes it useful for phone, computer, media-player, and recorded-program playback sources.
What software is included?
Capture live-recording software is included for multitrack recording. Product documentation identifies Studio One Pro or Fender Studio Pro recording software for Mac and Windows; software entitlement naming may vary by current registration package.
What cables and accessories are needed to begin?
You will need suitable XLR, 1/4-inch, RCA, or 1/8-inch audio cables for your sources and outputs. Retail package documentation lists a power cord and USB cable; confirm package contents with the seller before purchase.
