The Zoom F8n Pro is an eight-input field recorder and mixer designed for location sound, film production, broadcast work, music capture, and sound design. It records up to 10 tracks at once, combining eight isolated input tracks with a stereo mix. Its dual SD-card slots support redundant recording for productions that need an immediate backup.
32-bit float recording and dual A/D conversion are intended to preserve a wide usable recording range when source levels are unpredictable. This makes the recorder well suited to dialogue, effects recording, live performances, and other situations where quiet and loud sounds can happen in the same take. The unit also supports BWF-compatible WAV recording up to 192 kHz and 32-bit float.
Eight locking Neutrik XLR/TRS combo inputs accommodate microphones, wireless receivers, and line-level devices. Mic gain is adjustable from +10 to +75 dB, with an equivalent input noise specification of -127 dBu or less. Per-channel phantom power is available at +24 V or +48 V for compatible condenser microphones.
For picture workflows, the F8n Pro includes BNC timecode input/output with specified accuracy of ±0.2 ppm. Its routing tools include high-pass filtering, phase inversion, mid-side decoding, input delay, output delay, and AutoMix processing. Separate Main, Sub, and headphone outputs provide monitoring and camera-feed flexibility.
The F8n Pro can also serve as a USB audio interface for a computer, with an 8-in/4-out multitrack mode at up to 96 kHz and 32-bit float. It can record to SD cards while operating as an interface in its dedicated Audio Interface with Rec mode. Power options include eight AA batteries, the supplied Zoom AD-19 AC adapter, or an external 9-18 V DC source through its 4-pin Hirose connector.

Design & Installation
The F8n Pro uses a compact field-recorder layout with dedicated input gain controls, six-segment input level meters, illuminated transport controls, and a 2.4-inch full-color LCD. Locking Neutrik XLR/TRS combo connectors help secure attached source cables, while balanced TA3 Main outputs and a 3.5 mm stereo Sub output support professional and camera-oriented connections. Zoom does not publish a chassis-material specification, but the design is intended for portable production use.
Install the recorder in a field bag, on a sound cart, or with an optional CMF-8 camera mounting bracket as appropriate for the production. Connect sources to Inputs 1-8, use compatible SDHC or SDXC cards in one or both slots, and select mic or line input settings before recording. Power it with eight AA batteries, the included AD-19 adapter, or a properly matched 9-18 V Hirose DC supply; USB connection does not provide bus power.

Can I connect both microphones and wireless receivers?
Yes. Each of the eight locking XLR/TRS combo inputs can be set for mic or line sources. The recorder provides +24 V or +48 V phantom power, up to 10 mA per channel, for compatible microphones.
Does it record a backup at the same time?
Yes. The two SD-card slots can record simultaneously for redundant recording. It supports SDHC cards from 4 GB to 32 GB and SDXC cards from 64 GB to 1 TB.
Can it connect directly to a camera?
Yes. The Sub Out is a 3.5 mm unbalanced stereo output that can be used for a camera feed. The unit also has two balanced TA3 Main outputs and a separate 1/4-inch headphone output.
What is included in the box?
The package includes the F8n Pro Field Recorder, Zoom AD-19 12 V AC adapter, and operation manual. SD cards, AA batteries, external DC packs, and optional mounting accessories are not listed as included.
Can it be used as a computer audio interface?
Yes. Its multitrack USB mode provides 8-in/4-out operation at 44.1, 48, 88.2, or 96 kHz with 24-bit linear or 32-bit float audio. It cannot run on USB bus power, so separate recorder power is required.
