The Zoom LiveTrak L12next is a 12-channel digital mixer, multitrack recorder, and USB audio interface built for musicians, rehearsal spaces, live-streaming setups, and compact recording systems. It combines hands-on channel control with direct-to-card recording, helping users manage a live mix while preserving individual tracks for later production. Eight mono MIC/LINE channels and two stereo LINE channels provide flexible connectivity for microphones, instruments, keyboards, playback devices, and more.

Designed for performers and engineers who prefer immediate control, the L12next uses 60 mm faders and three multifunction encoders on each channel. The encoders provide access to gain, EQ, compression, panning, and effect-send adjustments without relying on deep menu navigation. Its channel layout supports fast changes during rehearsals, small venue performances, podcasts, and tracking sessions.

The eight microphone preamps provide up to +70 dB of gain and a stated equivalent input noise rating of -128 dBu EIN. Hi-Z input support on channels 1 and 2 accommodates direct connection of electric guitar or bass, while PAD, phantom power, and line-input options broaden source compatibility. A three-band EQ, low-cut filter, compressor, phase control, and onboard effects help shape the mix at the console.

For recording, the L12next can capture up to 14 tracks simultaneously: the input channels plus the stereo master mix. Individual recordings are stored as WAV files at up to 24-bit/96 kHz, while the master can be recorded in 32-bit float WAV format. Overdub, Auto Punch In/Out, and file-selection functions add practical tools for building and revising projects without a computer.

Five independent MONITOR OUT feeds let musicians receive separate monitor mixes through headphones, in-ear monitors, powered speakers, or stage monitors. The unit also operates as a 14-input/4-output USB audio interface at up to 96 kHz, with support for 24-bit or 32-bit float operation. Ten scene memories, a built-in talkback function, optional footswitch control, and optional Bluetooth app control make it a capable center for expandable live and studio workflows.

Design & Installation

The L12next uses a compact desktop mixer format with a 128 x 64 OLED display, LED level meters, 12 faders, and dedicated controls arranged for direct operation. Zoom does not publish a chassis-material specification, but the layout is designed around physical channel strips rather than touchscreen operation. Its 445 x 285 x 73 mm footprint suits desktop, rehearsal-room, portable production, and small live-sound use.

Connect microphones and line-level sources to the eight combo MIC/LINE inputs or the two stereo TS line-input pairs, then route the balanced XLR MASTER OUT to a PA system, speakers, or recording chain. Use the five 1/4-inch MONITOR OUT jacks for separate headphone, in-ear, or monitor feeds, and install a compatible microSDHC or microSDXC card for onboard recording. The included AD-19 power adapter is required for operation; optional accessories include the BTA-1 Bluetooth adapter, FS01 footswitch, and RKL-12 rackmount adapter.
