The Shure Nexadyne 5 NXN5 is a dynamic guitar amplifier microphone designed to capture amplified electric-guitar sound for live performance, rehearsal, and recording. Its compact side-address format is made for close placement at a speaker cabinet. The supercardioid pickup pattern helps focus on the amp while reducing sound arriving from the sides and rear.

The NXN5 uses Shure Revonic dual-engine transducer technology, combining a primary moving-coil transducer with a secondary vibration-cancelling dynamic transducer. The matched transducers are electrically out of phase to help reduce unwanted vibration-related noise. Shure specifies a 50 Hz to 16 kHz frequency response and a supercardioid polar pattern.

Its 335-ohm output impedance and 0.94 mV/Pa typical sensitivity support connection to a microphone preamp through a standard XLR microphone cable. Shure recommends a preamp load impedance of at least 1,000 ohms for effective signal transfer. The microphone's polarity places positive diaphragm pressure on XLR pin 2 relative to pin 3.

The Nexadyne 5 fits naturally into a PA, recording interface, mixer, or mic-preamp signal chain. Experimenting with speaker-cone position and microphone angle lets users emphasize different areas of an amp's tone. A mic clip, zippered pouch, and 5/8-inch to 3/8-inch brass thread adapter are included for transport and mounting.

The NXN5 uses a die-cast aluminum housing with black paint and weighs 301 g (0.66 lb). Its compact side-address design is intended to sit unobtrusively at the front of a guitar cabinet. The microphone uses a three-pin professional male XLR connector.

Connect the NXN5 to a mixer, audio interface, or microphone preamp with a standard XLR microphone cable; no cable is listed among the included accessories. Mount it with the included A25E mic clip on a stand, or drape it over the cabinet. For more bass and midrange emphasis, place it toward the center of the speaker cone; move it away from center or angle it to emphasize higher frequencies.
