The Roland DJ-202 is a compact two-channel DJ controller built for mixing, scratching, live remixing, and beat creation with a computer-based DJ setup. It provides control of up to four software decks through Serato DJ Lite while keeping the hardware layout portable and straightforward. Large, low-latency platters support cueing, track navigation, and scratch-style performance. Dedicated transport controls, channel controls, filters, performance pads, and effects controls keep common mix functions within reach. A defining feature of the DJ-202 is its onboard Roland TR drum sound and sequencing workflow. Built-in kits draw from the TR-909, TR-808, TR-707, and TR-606, using Roland ACB technology to recreate their drum-machine character. The 16-step sequencer can control Serato Sampler for rhythmic layers, transitions, and live beat patterns during a set.

Eight performance pads provide Hot Cue, Loop, Sequencer, and Sampler modes for direct access to performance functions. An independent sampler volume control helps blend triggered sounds with the main program material. Inst-Rec mode supports real-time sampler sequencing, and the dedicated MIDI output can synchronize compatible external MIDI equipment.

The DJ-202 includes a 1/4-inch microphone input with adjustable sensitivity and onboard vocal processing options. Its USB bus-powered design keeps setup simple, while RCA master outputs connect to powered speakers or an amplifier and a 1/4-inch headphone output supports cue monitoring. It can serve as a practical entry point for Serato DJ Lite users and is described by Roland as ready for a Serato DJ Pro upgrade path.

Roland specifies a width of 478 mm, a depth of 297 mm, a height of 62 mm, and a weight of 2.1 kg.

Connect the controller directly to a computer using the included USB cable; Roland advises against using a USB hub. Connect powered speakers or a power amplifier to the RCA master outputs, and connect DJ headphones to the stereo 1/4-inch phones jack. A microphone may be connected to the rear 1/4-inch mic input, while MIDI-compatible equipment can be synchronized from the MIDI OUT connector.
