The PreSonus STUDIOLIVE SE16 is a 40-channel digital console mixer designed for live sound, multitrack recording, playback, and streaming workflows. It brings hands-on fader control, onboard recording, USB interfacing, and networked audio together in one compact console. This makes it suitable for venues, touring rigs, houses of worship, rehearsal spaces, and production rooms that need flexible routing without separate recording hardware.

Seventeen touch-sensitive motorized faders provide tactile control while recalling mix positions and supporting fast scene changes. The console uses 17 XMAX-Remote microphone preamps, 32-bit floating-point DSP, and 115 dB A/D and D/A conversion. Its processing architecture is intended to keep live inputs, monitor mixes, recorded tracks, and playback sources manageable from a central surface.

For shaping a mix, the SE16 includes the complete Fat Channel Collection with seven EQ models and eight compressor models. Four dedicated effects buses, expanded Digital Reverb XL controls, and a variable limiter release provide practical processing tools for vocals, instruments, and program material. Sixteen FlexMixes can be configured for auxiliary, subgroup, or matrix duties to suit different monitor and distribution needs.

The integrated SD recorder and 64x64 USB 2.0 audio interface allow direct multitrack capture without requiring a separate interface. Capture software supports one-click Virtual Soundcheck, letting recorded material be played back through the console for mix preparation. Fender Studio Pro compatibility and support for other DAWs help the mixer serve both stage and studio workflows.

Milan-certified AVB networking allows the STUDIOLIVE SE16 to expand with compatible StudioLive Stage Boxes and other Milan-compatible I/O. Universal Control provides local remote operation, while Metro supports remote access to console settings over the internet. QMix-UC gives performers a way to manage personal monitor mixes from supported mobile devices.

Design & Installation

The STUDIOLIVE SE16 uses a black console format with a split-fader frame, high-contrast interface, ergonomic flat display arrangement, and redesigned fader caps. Its touch-sensitive motorized faders and eight scribble-strip displays support quick visual identification and control during a session. PreSonus does not publish a chassis-material specification, but the mixer is built as a portable, rack-mountable console format.

Allow space for the 17.59-inch-wide by 22.97-inch-deep console and provide AC power within its specified 100-230 VAC, 50-60 Hz range. Connect microphones through balanced XLR inputs, line-level equipment through balanced 1/4-inch TRS inputs, and a computer through the USB Type-B port for recording or playback. Use compatible SD or SDHC media for onboard recording, and connect AVB-capable expansion devices through the locking etherCONN network ports when a larger system is required.
