Hertz C165 Cento 6.5" Component Woofers

The Hertz C165 is a pair of 6.5-inch component woofers from the Cento series, designed for dedicated midbass and midrange duty in a vehicle audio system. It is intended for installations that use separate tweeters and appropriate crossover filtering rather than a full-range coaxial speaker arrangement. This makes it a practical replacement choice when building or servicing a component speaker system.

With a 4-ohm nominal impedance and 70 watts continuous power handling per woofer, the C165 can be matched with many aftermarket amplifiers and compatible factory or aftermarket speaker channels. Its 55 Hz to 7 kHz stated frequency response focuses on the frequencies typically handled by a door-mounted woofer. The design supports a clear division of work between the woofer, tweeter, and crossover in a properly configured system.

The woofer uses Hertz's Semi-Pressed Paper-Mica cone material, combining semi-pressed paper with mica. This cone construction is selected for controlled damping and rigidity while retaining the natural character associated with paper-based diaphragms. A high-density-flux ferrite magnet supports the driver's motor structure.

A 25 mm, or 1-inch, voice coil and 93 dB SPL sensitivity are specified for the C165. Its electro-acoustic specifications include a 60 Hz resonant frequency and 3.5 mm Xmax. These characteristics make it suited to front or rear door locations where solid midbass integration is the goal.

The C165 can be used as part of a custom active system or paired with compatible separate tweeters and passive crossover components. Hertz documents the C165 as the woofer used in its Cento CK 165 component system, alongside the C 26 tweeter and CCX 2 crossover. Optional CG 165 grilles are available for installations that need speaker protection or a finished appearance.

The C165 uses a Semi-Pressed Paper-Mica cone, a 25 mm voice coil, and a high-density-flux ferrite magnet measuring 85 x 32 x 15 mm. Each woofer weighs 0.96 kg, or 2.12 lb. The driver has a 165 mm overall diameter and a 71 mm mounting-depth dimension in Hertz's installation drawing.

Confirm vehicle-specific fitment before purchase, including the 142 mm mounting cutout and available mounting depth. Because this is a woofer-only component, pair it with compatible tweeters and crossover filtering for a complete component system.
