The Rockford Fosgate P3-D2-10 is a 10-inch dual-voice-coil subwoofer designed to add controlled low-frequency output to a car audio system. It is intended for listeners building or upgrading a dedicated bass system rather than relying on factory full-range speakers alone.

The driver uses an anodized aluminum cone and dustcap, plus a high-temperature voice coil with a spun-laced Nomex reinforcement collar. A 2.5-inch, four-layer voice coil and double-stack ferrite magnet structure support the subwoofer's power-handling design.

Its StampCast basket combines stamped and cast construction to provide a rigid mounting structure while managing weight and resonance. The P3-D2-10 can be installed in either sealed or vented enclosures, depending on the desired balance of enclosure size, bass character, and output. Rockford Fosgate specifies a 0.59-cubic-foot optimum sealed enclosure or a 1.40-cubic-foot optimum vented enclosure before driver and port displacement. Pair it with a properly configured low-pass crossover and an amplifier that remains stable at the selected series or parallel voice-coil wiring load.

Design & Installation

The P3-D2-10 uses an anodized aluminum cone and dustcap, a rubberized over-mold, a high-temperature voice coil, and a protective PVC-textured magnet cover. Its double-stack ferrite magnet structure, extended pole piece, and bumped vented backplate are part of the driver motor design. The included decorative trim ring is cast aluminum and is designed to accommodate an optional grille insert.

Allow for a 9.13-inch cutout diameter and 6.18 inches of mounting depth when planning the enclosure. Rockford Fosgate specifies sealed and vented enclosure alignments; enclosure volumes are gross internal volumes before speaker and port displacement. Use an active low-pass crossover in the 80-100 Hz range as recommended in the installation manual, and use a subsonic filter with vented enclosures for protection below the usable bass range.
