The Rockford Fosgate R2SD4-10 is a 10-inch shallow-mount subwoofer designed for vehicle installations where conventional subwoofers are too deep. This Prime R2 subwoofer uses dual 4-ohm voice coils, giving installers flexibility to configure the driver for a 2-ohm or 8-ohm final load. It is rated for 200 watts RMS and 400 watts maximum power handling. Matching it with an amplifier that is stable at the selected impedance is important for proper system setup.

The R2SD4-10 is optimized for sealed enclosures, where its recommended 0.70-cubic-foot internal volume supports a compact installation. A vented enclosure can also be used when built to the published 1.40-cubic-foot recommendation. This lets the subwoofer serve different system goals while retaining a shallow mounting profile.

Its injection-molded polypropylene cone and sealed poly-foam surround are designed for durable operation in an automotive environment. A high-temperature copper voice coil on an aluminum former supports thermal handling, while the stitched flexible lead-wire design helps manage repeated cone movement. The shallow motor assembly is paired with a vented backplate to support cooling.

The heavy-gauge stamped-steel frame and spider-vented basket provide a stable mounting structure for the driver. Dual 12 AWG compression terminals simplify connection to suitable speaker wire. For a complete bass upgrade, install the R2SD4-10 in a correctly sized enclosure and use an amplifier with an appropriate low-pass crossover setting.

Its high-temperature copper voice coil uses an aluminum former, and the basket incorporates spider venting. Dual 12 AWG compression terminals provide the connection points for the two voice coils.

Plan for a 9.125-inch mounting cutout and approximately 3.42 inches of mounting depth. A 0.70-cubic-foot sealed enclosure is the published recommended application, while a 1.40-cubic-foot vented enclosure can be used with one 4-inch-diameter by 13.7-inch-long port tuned to 42 Hz. Wire the voice coils in series for an 8-ohm load or parallel for a 2-ohm load, and configure the amplifier crossover appropriately for subwoofer use.
