The P3D4-12 uses an anodized aluminum cone and dustcap, Santoprene surround, dual linear spiders, and a protective PVC-textured magnet cover. Its high-temperature, four-layer voice coil uses a spun-laced Nomex reinforcement collar, while the basket integrates venting around the spider area. A diamond-cut cast-aluminum trim ring is included, and the design accepts an optional grille.

Allow for an 11.25-inch cutout and 6.66-inch mounting depth, plus sufficient clearance behind the motor and terminals. Rockford Fosgate specifies a 0.75 to 1.25 cubic-foot sealed enclosure range or a 1.79 cubic-foot optimum vented enclosure; enclosure volume should account for driver and port displacement. Use an amplifier and wiring configuration compatible with the final 2-ohm or 8-ohm nominal load, and use a subsonic filter with a vented enclosure.
