The Gretsch G2655 Streamliner Center Block Jr. is a right-handed, six-string semi-hollow electric guitar built around a compact double-cutaway body. Its chambered center-block construction provides a familiar semi-hollow response while helping control feedback at amplified volume. It is suited to players who want a smaller-bodied electric guitar with flexible controls and access to upper frets.
A laminated maple body, arched top, and arched back give the G2655 its core construction and visual character. The 1.75-inch-deep body is paired with a set nato neck for a stable, traditional electric-guitar layout. Gloss finishes, aged-white binding, and nickel hardware complete the Abbey Ale presentation.
Two Broad'Tron BT-3S humbucking pickups provide the primary amplified voice. Gretsch specifies an Alnico 5 and Alnico 2 magnet combination for these pickups, with an emphasis on strong midrange, full lows, and clear highs. A three-position toggle selects the bridge pickup, both pickups, or the neck pickup.
The control layout includes separate neck and bridge pickup volume controls, plus master tone and master volume controls. The master-volume control includes a push/pull coil-split function, expanding the available pickup sounds without adding extra switches. This makes it practical for players who move between fuller humbucking tones and brighter split-coil textures.
Its 24.75-inch scale length, soft C nato neck, and 12-inch-radius laurel fingerboard provide a familiar fretting platform for chords, rhythm parts, and lead work. The 22 medium-jumbo frets and double-cutaway shape support access across the fingerboard. An anchored Adjusto-Matic bridge and V-Stoptail form a fixed-tailpiece setup for straightforward string changes and intonation adjustment.
Key Features
- Chambered Center Block: Helps reduce feedback while retaining semi-hollow resonance.
- Broad'Tron BT-3S Pickups: Dual humbuckers provide a broad, amplified electric-guitar voice.
- Push/Pull Coil Split: Adds split-coil sounds from the master-volume control.
- Compact Double Cutaway: Offers a smaller body and upper-fret access.
- Adjusto-Matic Bridge: Provides adjustable intonation in a fixed-tailpiece design.
- Bone Nut: Complements the 24.75-inch scale-length neck.
Design & Installation
The G2655 uses laminated maple for its arched body, top, and back, with aged-white binding and black-and-white-and-black purfling. Its set nato neck has a gloss finish, soft C profile, aged-white binding, and a laurel fingerboard with pearloid Neo-Classic thumbnail inlays. The guitar is finished in Abbey Ale and uses a three-ply black pickguard with a gold Gretsch logo.
For setup, the anchored Adjusto-Matic bridge supports intonation adjustment, while the die-cast sealed tuners and V-Stoptail make this a fixed-tailpiece instrument. It ships specified with .010-.046 nickel-plated steel strings. A case or gig bag is not included; Gretsch lists the optional G2655T Streamliner hardshell case and G2164 gig bag for transport.
