Cerwin-Vega V80C 8" 2-Way Component Speaker System

The Cerwin-Vega V80C is an 8-inch, 2-way component speaker system for upgrading a vehicle's factory speakers with separately mounted woofers and tweeters. It is designed for installations where an 8-inch speaker position is available and better component placement is desired. The set includes crossover networks to divide the audio signal between the woofer and tweeter.

This system is intended for car, truck, SUV, and van audio upgrades that have sufficient mounting room for the 8-inch woofers. Its 4-ohm nominal impedance is suited to compatible aftermarket amplification or speaker outputs. Separate 1-inch tweeters allow installers to position high frequencies independently from the woofers.

The V80C is rated for 180 watts RMS and 540 watts maximum per side, with 360 watts RMS and 1,080 watts maximum for the complete set. Its specified frequency response is 91 Hz to 20 kHz, with 90 dB sensitivity measured at 1 watt/1 meter. This makes it a component option for systems that prioritize midrange coverage and dedicated high-frequency reproduction.

Each woofer uses a hybrid carbon fiber/polypropylene cone and Santoprene rubber surround. The 1-inch dynamically balanced silk dome tweeter uses a neodymium magnet, while the woofer uses a strontium ferrite magnet. A powder-coated stamped-steel basket provides the woofer's mounting structure.

The V80C is supplied as a stereo component set with two woofers, two tweeters, and two crossover networks. It can be used as a front-stage or rear-stage upgrade where custom tweeter placement is practical. Confirm the vehicle's available depth, cutout, panel clearance, and wiring path before installation.

Design & Installation

The V80C combines hybrid carbon fiber/polypropylene woofer cones, Santoprene rubber surrounds, strontium ferrite woofer magnets, and neodymium tweeter magnets. Its 8-inch woofers use powder-coated, rigid stamped-steel baskets. The set does not include speaker grilles.

Verify the 7.01-inch cutout requirement, 2.60-inch mounting depth, and 8.25 x 7.76-inch overall woofer dimensions against the intended mounting location. The included tweeters support flush or surface mounting, and each side should be wired through its supplied crossover network. Use grommets when passing wiring through metal and ensure the speaker frame is securely sealed to its mounting surface.
