The Hertz DSK160-3 is a 6-inch, two-way component speaker system designed for vehicle audio upgrades that need separate woofers and tweeters. It combines DV 160.3 mid-woofers with DT 24.3 tweeters and compact inline crossover wiring. This format lets the tweeters be placed independently from the woofers for a more flexible installation.

With 80 watts continuous power handling and a 4-ohm system impedance, this kit is suited to compatible aftermarket head units or external amplification. Its 93 dB SPL sensitivity supports strong output from modest power while retaining capacity for a properly matched amplifier. The 50 Hz to 23 kHz stated frequency response covers midbass through high-frequency detail.

The DV 160.3 woofer uses a water-repellent pressed-paper V-cone and a TPU surround. This construction is intended to support controlled excursion and damp resonances in typical door-speaker locations. A high-density-flux ferrite motor and pure copper voice coil provide the woofer's drive system.

The DT 24.3 uses a 24 mm PEI dome-cone tweeter with a neodymium magnet and annular acoustic lens. Its compact size supports external or flush-style mounting with the supplied mounting accessories. The supplied high-pass crossover wiring directs high frequencies to the tweeter while reducing installation space requirements.

This kit is a practical choice for replacing factory 6-inch component speakers where separate tweeter placement is available. An included adapter ring is intended for select GM and Honda vehicles with 6-inch OEM speaker positions. Check vehicle-specific mounting depth, cutout dimensions, wiring connections, and panel clearance before installation.

Design & Installation

The DV 160.3 woofer combines a high-density-flux ferrite magnet, 25 mm pure copper voice coil on a Conex former, V-cone profile, and TPU surround. Its DIN-size basket has abrasion-resistant dust paint, while tin-plated terminals and silver-plated lead wires are used for its electrical connections. The DT 24.3 tweeter uses a neodymium magnet, PEI dome-cone diaphragm, and annular acoustic lens.

Install the woofers only where the 127 mm cutout and approximately 56.5 mm mounting depth can be accommodated, while allowing clearance for the basket and terminals. Connect the tweeter through the supplied crossover wiring rather than directly to a full-range speaker output. Use the supplied tweeter cups, gasket, and adapter ring where appropriate, and verify polarity and vehicle-specific fitment before reassembling trim panels.
