Hertz CPK 690 6x9" 2-Way Component Speaker System

The Hertz CPK 690 is a 6x9-inch, two-way component speaker system from the Cento PRO line. It is designed for vehicles with oval 6x9 speaker locations, including many door applications common in North American vehicles. By separating the woofer and tweeter, the system allows more flexible placement than a coaxial speaker design.

This system is intended for listeners upgrading factory door speakers who want stronger midbass output and more controlled high-frequency reproduction. Its 120-watt continuous power rating and 4-ohm nominal impedance make it suitable for use with a properly matched aftermarket amplifier. The stated frequency response extends from 35 Hz to 22.5 kHz.

The CP 690 woofer uses a water-repellent pressed-paper cone with FEM-optimized geometry. Hertz combines this cone with a 30.5 mm double-layer voice coil, high-density-flux ferrite motor, low-carbon polar plates, and a three-spoke basket with a rubber magnet cover. These elements are designed to support controlled operation and power handling in a door-mounted installation.

High frequencies are handled by the separate CP 25 tweeter, which uses a 29 mm soft Tetolon fiber dome and a neodymium magnet. Its 25 mm voice coil is ferrofluid-cooled, while the rear chamber contains damping material. The tweeter faceplate uses FEM-optimized geometry intended to support more consistent response when installed off-axis.

A CPCX 690 passive crossover divides the signal between the woofer and tweeter at 3.1 kHz. It provides a 6 dB-per-octave low-pass section for the woofer and a 12 dB-per-octave high-pass section for the tweeter. The crossover's three-position tweeter-level setting helps tailor upper-frequency output to the vehicle, mounting location, and listener preference.

The CP 690 woofer combines a water-repellent pressed-paper cone, double-layer voice coil, ferrite magnet assembly, low-carbon polar plates, and a transparent three-spoke basket. The CP 25 tweeter uses a Tetolon fiber dome, neodymium magnet, ferrofluid-cooled voice coil, damped rear chamber, and FEM-optimized faceplate. The compact CPCX 690 crossover uses metallic-finish 160 V polyester-film capacitors, pure-copper inductors, and venting for heat dissipation.

Confirm that the vehicle has suitable 6x9 mounting locations and adequate mounting depth before installation; the CP 690 mounting depth is listed as 85 mm. Route the amplifier or head-unit speaker output through the CPCX 690 crossover, then connect its dedicated woofer and tweeter outputs to the respective drivers. Use secure mounting, protect wiring from sharp edges and moving parts, and select the tweeter-level setting after listening from the driver's seat.
