Hertz MPK130-3 5.25" 2-Way Component Speaker System
$599.99
Hertz DP2-200 2-Channel Class AB Car Amplifier
$228.00
The Hertz MPK130-3 Mille Pro is a 5.25-inch, two-way component speaker system for upgrading a vehicle's front-stage sound while retaining a compact installation footprint. It combines separate MP 130.3 woofers, MP 25.3 tweeters, and MPCX 2.3 passive crossovers to divide mid-bass and high-frequency duties. The system is rated for 100 watts continuous power handling and 200 watts peak at 4 ohms.
This set is suited to listeners who want a more defined, properly separated speaker upgrade than a coaxial replacement can provide. Its 130 mm woofer is designed for broad dispersion and useful low-frequency extension in compact factory speaker locations. With a specified frequency response of 60 Hz to 22.5 kHz, it covers the core mid-bass, vocal, and treble ranges in a component layout.
The MP 130.3 woofer uses an exponential V-cone pressed-pulp cone with cotton fibers and a Boundary Free rubber surround. This construction increases the usable cone area relative to conventional surrounds while supporting controlled mid-bass output. A pure-copper voice coil on a polyamide former is paired with a high-density-flux ferrite magnet assembly.
For high frequencies, the MP 25.3 tweeter uses a 29 mm Tetolon fiber soft dome and a 25 mm ferrofluid-cooled voice coil. Its Center Tuning Duct geometry and damped rear chamber are engineered for a lower resonance frequency and controlled high-pass behavior. The supplied MPCX 2.3 crossover is set at 3.5 kHz and includes a selectable 0 or +2 dB tweeter-level adjustment.
The MPK130-3 works well as a front-door and dash, sail-panel, or A-pillar component upgrade where separate woofer and tweeter placement is possible. Its passive crossover allows the system to be run from two amplifier channels or compatible head-unit speaker outputs, subject to appropriate power matching. Included mounting accessories help accommodate flush or angled tweeter installation approaches.
Key Features
- Two-Way Component System: Separates woofer and tweeter placement for a more flexible front-stage installation.
- 100W Continuous Handling: Supports amplification matched to its 4-ohm system rating.
- V-Cone Woofer: Pressed-pulp cone profile supports broad midrange dispersion.
- Boundary Free Surround: IIR butyl-rubber surround expands the effective cone area.
- Tetolon Soft-Dome Tweeter: 29 mm diaphragm handles the system's high-frequency range.
- Adjustable Passive Crossover: Selectable 0 or +2 dB tweeter output helps balance tonal level.
Design & Installation
The woofer uses a low-depth, acoustically transparent aluminum-alloy basket with spider vent holes, a high-density ferrite magnet, and low-carbon-content iron plates. Its pressed-pulp-and-cotton-fiber cone is joined to a Boundary Free rubber surround. The tweeter uses a neodymium magnet, Tetolon fiber soft dome, ferrofluid-cooled voice coil, and a rear chamber with damping material.
Confirm vehicle-specific woofer cutout, mounting depth, and tweeter mounting locations before installation. Connect the MP 130.3 woofer and MP 25.3 tweeter through the included MPCX 2.3 passive crossover rather than directly paralleling them on one channel. The included grilles, angled supports, flush-mounting rings, watchbands, and tweeter gaskets provide installation options for custom or OEM-style integration.

Will the MPK130-3 fit my vehicle's factory 5.25-inch speaker location?
The woofer is specified as 130 mm (5 inches), but fitment remains vehicle-specific. Confirm the factory opening, available mounting depth, mounting points, and the location for the separate tweeter before purchase.
What is included with this component speaker system?
The system is built around MP 130.3 woofers, MP 25.3 tweeters, and MPCX 2.3 passive crossovers. Hertz also lists metal mesh grilles, angled supports, flush-mounting rings, watchbands, and tweeter gaskets as included accessories.
How much amplifier power should I match to these speakers?
The MPK130-3 system is rated at 100 watts continuous and 200 watts peak power handling at 4 ohms. Use an amplifier or source unit that is compatible with a 4-ohm speaker load and set gain correctly.
Can I adjust the tweeter output level?
Yes. The included MPCX 2.3 passive crossover provides a two-position tweeter-level setting of 0 dB or +2 dB. This can help balance tweeter output relative to the woofer after installation.
Does this system require a subwoofer?
No subwoofer is required for the MPK130-3 to operate. Hertz specifies a 60 Hz to 22.5 kHz system frequency response and designed the system for broad low-frequency response in compact installations.
Can the woofer and tweeter be connected directly to one speaker channel?
They should be connected through the supplied MPCX 2.3 passive crossover. The crossover divides the signal at 3.5 kHz, with separate low-pass and high-pass filter sections for the woofer and tweeter.
