Audison APK130 5.25" 2-Way Component Speaker System

The Audison APK130 is a 5.25-inch, two-way component speaker system designed for vehicle audio upgrades where separate woofers and tweeters are preferred over coaxial speakers. The kit combines AP 5 woofers, AP 1 tweeters, compact APCX TW passive crossovers, and protective grilles. Its 4-ohm design is intended for use with compatible factory or aftermarket car audio amplification.

This system is suited to installations with 130 mm speaker locations, including many OEM door and rear-panel placements. The separate 26 mm tweeters allow higher frequencies to be positioned closer to the listener than the woofers. That arrangement can help support a more focused front-stage installation when properly mounted and tuned.

The APK130 is rated for 75 watts continuous and 225 watts peak power handling per system, with a 70 Hz to 20 kHz published frequency response. The AP 5 woofer uses a 32 mm pure-copper voice coil, water-repellent treated paper cone, and TPU Triple Wave surround. Its 93 dB sensitivity specification supports efficient operation from appropriately matched power.

The AP 1 tweeter uses a 26 mm Tetolon-fibre diaphragm with a wide-roll surround and an acoustic lens. Audison specifies the lens to address response effects that can occur around 10 kHz to 13 kHz when the tweeter is installed behind restrictive OEM grilles. The included APCX TW crossover provides a selectable 0 dB or +2 dB tweeter level setting for different mounting conditions.

For an OEM-oriented upgrade, the compact woofer basket and reduced mounting depth help fit available factory speaker locations. High-current fast-on terminals on the woofers use double contacts on both positive and negative poles for flexible connection. The system can be used as a front component stage with an external amplifier or a compatible head unit, provided power and mounting requirements are checked before installation.

Design & Installation

The AP 5 woofer combines a compact, abrasion-resistant coated basket with a damping-epoxy-secured motor, a water-repellent treated paper cone, and a TPU surround with Audison's shallow Triple Wave profile. Its 32 mm pure-copper voice coil is paired with an 85 x 40 x 13 mm magnet assembly. The AP 1 tweeter uses a neodymium magnet and a 20 mm CCAW voice coil on a Kapton former with ferrofluid cooling.

Confirm that the vehicle accepts a 130 mm woofer and provides sufficient mounting clearance before purchase; the AP 5 is listed at 48.5 mm mounting depth and 119 mm for Dimension B. Wire each AP 1 tweeter through its supplied APCX TW crossover, following the marked connections and preserving polarity. Use the 0 dB setting for an unobstructed A-pillar tweeter location, or the +2 dB setting when the tweeter is installed behind an OEM grille.
