The Hertz MPK 1650.3 PRO is a 6.5-inch, two-way component speaker system designed for front-stage vehicle audio upgrades. It separates the woofer and tweeter so each driver can be placed where it performs most effectively. This system combines the MP 165P.3 woofer, MP 28.3 tweeter, and MPCX 165.3 passive crossover network. Its 3-ohm nominal impedance is designed to make effective use of compatible amplification, including 2-ohm-stable electronics. With 125 watts continuous power handling and 250 watts peak handling for the system, it is suited to a properly matched amplified installation.

The MP 165P.3 woofer uses a pressed-pulp cone with cotton fibers, an exponential V-cone profile, and a Boundary Free rubber surround. These elements support a controlled, solid mid-bass character while helping maintain dispersion through the midrange. Its 95 mm ferrite magnet and 14 mm-high copper voice coil are engineered for power handling and controlled excursion.

For high frequencies, the MP 28.3 uses a 28 mm CCAW voice coil, Tetolon fiber dome, rear acoustic chamber, and neodymium motor structure. The rear chamber is damped and lowers tweeter resonance to 900 Hz, allowing the crossover point to be selected at 3 kHz or 4 kHz. This flexibility helps accommodate different tweeter locations and listening angles in a vehicle.

The included MPCX 165.3 crossover manages the transition between the woofer and tweeter with 12 dB-per-octave low-pass and high-pass sections. It provides selectable Hi-Contour operation and tweeter output adjustment at +2 dB, 0 dB, or -2 dB. The system is a practical foundation for a dedicated front-stage upgrade when paired with appropriate installation hardware, wiring, and amplification.

Design & Installation

The MP 165P.3 woofer features an acoustically transparent aluminum-alloy basket with diamond-cut detailing, a 95 mm ferrite magnet, and a pressed-pulp cone reinforced with cotton fibers. The MP 28.3 tweeter uses a Tetolon fiber dome and neodymium motor, while the crossover uses polyester film capacitors, air-core copper inductors, and wirewound resistors. Full-protection metal mesh grilles and mineral powder-coated inner grilles are included for multiple installation approaches.

Install the 6.5-inch woofers in rigid, properly prepared door or kick-panel locations with adequate mounting clearance, and place the tweeters where their angle toward the listener can be optimized. Hertz illustrates tweeter placement on the A-pillars or dashboard and suggests a 12 to 15 cm spacing relationship for display-style placement. Connect each woofer and tweeter through its supplied MPCX 165.3 crossover, observe polarity, and select the Hi-Contour and tweeter-level settings after listening from the driver position.
