The Hertz ML1650-3 Mille Legend is a pair of 6.5-inch component woofers designed for high-quality car audio door installations. Each woofer is built to reproduce the low and mid-bass range with controlled output in a dedicated component-speaker system. It is a suitable upgrade for listeners building a more capable front-stage system than factory full-range door speakers provide.

With 125 watts continuous power handling and a 4-ohm nominal impedance, these woofers are intended for use with appropriately matched amplification. Their 40 Hz to 6.5 kHz frequency response supports use as the woofer section of a multi-driver system. The 93 dB SPL sensitivity specification helps support strong output from a properly configured amplifier and crossover setup.

The ML1650-3 uses a pressed-pulp cone reinforced with cotton fibers to balance low moving mass with controlled behavior across its operating range. Hertz pairs this cone with an exponential V-cone profile intended to maintain cone stability during excursion and support midrange dispersion. A Boundary Free IIR rubber surround increases the usable cone area within the 165 mm frame size.

A 36 mm double-layer CCAW voice coil on a polyamide former is engineered for thermal stability and power handling. The neodymium motor uses CNC-machined low-carbon plates and an aluminum-covered pole piece. These construction details are intended to help control impedance behavior and reduce distortion at higher output levels.

The ML1650-3 is a standalone woofer component rather than a complete coaxial speaker or full component set. It can be paired with compatible tweeters and suitable passive or active crossover filtering to create a tailored two-way front system. Factory-supplied die-cast aluminum grilles add protection where the installation location requires exposed speakers.

Design & Installation

The ML1650-3 combines a pressed-pulp and cotton-fiber cone with a Boundary Free IIR rubber surround, a three-spoke aluminum-alloy basket, and integrated basket venting. Its motor structure includes CNC-machined plates, an aluminum-covered pole, and a neodymium magnet measuring 80 x 45 x 5 mm. Each speaker weighs 1.29 kg (2.84 lb), and the supplied grille is die-cast aluminum with a diamond-cut Hertz logo.

Confirm vehicle-specific door clearance, mounting-hole placement, and panel depth before installation. Hertz specifies a 156 mm (6.14-inch) center-to-center mounting pattern and 5 mm (0.2-inch) mounting holes. Use these woofers with appropriate high-pass/low-pass crossover filtering and securely route protected speaker wire away from sharp edges, moving parts, moisture, and heat sources.
