The Rockford Fosgate P1V2-65 is a pair of 6.5-inch, 4-ohm 3-way coaxial car speakers designed to replace factory full-range drivers in compatible door or rear-deck locations. By integrating a midrange, inverted-dome tweeter, and piezo super tweeter into each speaker, it provides a more complete frequency range than a typical single-cone OEM speaker. It is intended for everyday vehicle audio upgrades where improved clarity and output are desired without moving to a separate component-speaker system.

Each P1V2-65 speaker is rated for 75 watts RMS and 150 watts peak, with 88 dB sensitivity at 1 watt/1 meter. Its 49 Hz to 25 kHz frequency response supports bass and midrange duties while extending into higher frequencies through the integrated tweeter array. The 4-ohm nominal impedance is suited to common aftermarket head units and compatible car-audio amplifiers.

The 3-way layout uses a 6.5-inch mica-reinforced polypropylene cone, a 3/4-inch Tetolon inverted-dome tweeter, and a 3/8-inch polypropylene piezo super tweeter. This arrangement is designed to add high-frequency detail while retaining the simple, single-location installation of a coaxial speaker. An internal tweeter high-pass network is specified at 9 kHz with a 6 dB-per-octave slope.

Rockford Fosgate's VAST 2.0 surround architecture increases usable cone area compared with a conventional surround arrangement. The speaker also uses a Santoprene half-roll surround, linear Nomex spider, vented Kapton voice-coil former, and Y35 ferrite motor structure. These construction elements support controlled cone movement and heat management in normal vehicle-audio use.

For fitment flexibility, the P1V2-65 has a removable motor cover and an updated mounting flange. It requires a 5.67-inch cutout and has a 2.48-inch mounting depth with the motor cover installed, or 2.24 inches without it. The pair includes basic installation hardware and wiring accessories, while protective grilles are sold separately.

Design & Installation

The P1V2-65 uses a mica-reinforced polypropylene cone with a chemically bonded Santoprene surround, plus a glass-fiber-reinforced PA66 composite basket. Its overhung voice coil uses a vented Kapton former, while the Y35 ferrite motor, linear Nomex spider, stitched tinsel leads, and co-molded terminals support the speaker assembly. An integrated concealed crossover network is built into the coaxial design.

Before purchase, compare the vehicle's available opening, depth, and front-side clearance with the 5.67-inch cutout, 2.48-inch mounting depth, and 0.51-inch front-side-clearance requirements. The package includes screws, a cutout template, short speaker-wire leads, crimp connectors, and spade terminals; grilles are not included. Observe terminal polarity, route wiring before mounting, and verify that door glass, locks, and other moving parts clear the speaker.
